wlan_tkip

FYI for anyone searching and reading. Using ath_pci (D-Link WNA-1330), I had to "modprobe wlan_tkip" before using the commandline scripts to connect to the router. see here for description: http://leaf.dragonflybsd.org/cgi/web-man?command=wlan_tkip&section=4 Network Wizard must call th...

I recall raising the matter of the "s:" option some time ago, but it was decided it is unnecessary... I think the wizard converts ascii keys to hex, then uses the hex. This would be true from what I have seen. After entering the ascii WPA passphrase(key?) into the Network Wizard, and afte...

runtt21, Interesting idea you have there. But, it looks like this rkhunter prog only works on Linux and BSD, so would not scan the Windows system for kits. By your use of "lifeboat for windows", this is how I assume you meant to use it. If not, let us know. Also, how often is this prog upd...

So if I install this one then I don't have to install Firefox 2.0? Does this SeaMonkey do the same things as a FF2.0 do? This full install of Seamonkey is a "suite" and does many more things than Firefox: browser, e-mail client, IRC, and HTML Composer. I also find that there is a lot more...

Very nice Wolf Pup :D Just thought I'ld provide some feedback after trying this .pet. Puppy 4.00 with the 2.6.25 kernel. LiveCD boot with save file. Older box with 1.1GHz Duron and 256 MB RAM. I installed over top of the original Seamonkey. Got messages about missing dependencies, but the browser se...

Nascar TNT Race Buddy will not start on 4.0

Race Buddy works fine with Seamonkey on Win2000, but won't in Puppy 4.0. LiveCD with 512MB save file. Anyone have Race Buddy working with Puppy? or ideas why it will not start? When clicking on the Launch button, nothing happens at all. The Live Leaderboard and the Videos work ok. Edit: hmmm, I shou...

What did you find was the proper driver for PP 3.01?

:?: Jeffrey, I have a different wifi card than you do (mentioned in a previous post), so this would not apply.

Or are you referring to another type of driver?

Re: Puppy Is Able To Boot & Run Live CD

This incident has caused me to have some doubts about Puppy and Linux, in general, because windows continued to boot and operate without problems the whole time this incident was happening. Hmmm........You could look it from the other side though. Windows was ignoring something wrong, allowing a bo...

Nothing wrong with Puppy 4.00. I just did a frugal install onto the hard drive. On first reboot it asked to create the pup_save.2fs file and it put it into the /pup400 folder. I had to follow the instructions in the 4.0 manual found on the website. Getting Grub set-up was a little rough, but the iin...

bbboB, Not much of a help, but the Alsa wizard set up the OPl3 ok on my old T Tecra laptop. It did it thru the legacy scan. Must be something with the hardware/bios in your machine. Another thought, how are you testing for sound? I could not get anything out of gxine, but installed xfmedia and it wo...

shroomy_bee, I tried deleting the asound.state file. It didn't work for me, and as you said, the file returns after reboot. I did a comparison of lsmod when sound does not work vs when it does after running ALSA Wizard. There were 7 additional modules after running the wizard, so I manually loaded t...

Just for some further details, since this is a help forum after all, I didn't know what to do in the ALSA wizard; I ran it, it probed for soundcards and returned a list of 4, then asked if I wanted to change modprobe.conf and alter drivers for bootup; I wasn't sure what it was going to do, so I jus...

Xanni, Are you going to install over top of the Debian? I taking a guess here, but I wonder if Puppy is detecting the valid OS's and figuring you have to do a Superfloppy install (whatever superfloppy is, I'll have to look it up) to avoid wrecking the installed OS's. If you don't want Debian, try de...

Rerun Alsa Sound Wizard. Apply appropriate module for the hardware.

You should get the sound back.

Now the question will be if it is there after a reboot. It doesn't come back on my system after a boot using ver 3.01 or 4.00.

I'll be interested to see how you make out.

As far as reverting to 3.01, can one run 3.01 over 4.0 just by booting from the 3.01 disk in the same machine, or does it have to be a clean install?
