According to Google, recognition of the Nokia Lumia 920 under Windows is problematic, and I suspect the same may be true under Linux. The recommended fix is:
i) Turn off the phone, then plug it into the USB port of your running Puppy computer, then turn the phone on.
ii) Then launch the relevant application - in this case Gnomad2.
I also read that long USB cables might be a problem - try connecting with a short USB cable.

Hi Tempestious,
nothing to do..
Installed gnomad, then your patch for nokia 920 , reboot.
Connect nokia power off, started, then loaded gnomad, but it's the same old story:" No juboxes found on usb bus".
Maybe i can upgrade usblib on puppy?
Thanks

Ted Dog, I need to know the USB device ID of your Samsung.
Please connect the phone to the USB port of a Puppy computer, then run this command -

OK, I just repackaged gnomad2 with the latest v1.1.6 libmtp libraries - the link is in the first post.
iw2evk, your Nokia Lumia 920 is definitely supported now, but you may see your device displayed as "Nokia Lumia WP8".
Ted Dog, I see extensive support in this new code for Samsung Galaxy devices, and I see some notes that the default mode for Galaxy phones is MTP ... but it appears this mode can be changed to UMS (standard USB mode).
If true, it means you don't need to be locked into using MTP (and Gnomad2) for transferring music files to your phone - you should be able to change the mode (somewhere in the menu) to UMS mode, then your transfers can be via conventional file browsers, such as ROX.
If you want to see what I'm talking about, download the source code for libmtp-1.1.6 and have a look at /src/music-players.h

Hi Tempestous and happy new year ...
I've instelled your last build but don't work :
see in attachment the reply of mtpdetect :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6
Listing raw device(s)
Device 0 (VID=0421 and PID=0661) is a Nokia Nokia Lumia WP8.
Found 1 device(s):

Attempting to connect device(s)
LIBMTP PANIC: Unable to find interface & endpoints of device
Unable to open raw device 0
OK.
Script completed hit RETURN to close window.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and now the reply of mtpconnect :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your system does not appear to have UTF-8 enabled ($LANG="it_IT@euro")
If you want to have support for diacritics and Unicode characters,
please switch your locale to an UTF-8 locale, e.g. "en_US.UTF-8".

I just Googled your problem and found this -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1247572
You will see that mtp-detect failed several times, but this guy just kept re-trying.

Last chance - libmtp-1.1.6 is from March 2013, so I compiled the very latest development version of libmtp from git,
then repackaged Gnomad2. Now available here -

Yes, that device ID is supported. In /src/music-players.h these are the relevant lines -Ted Dog wrote:04e8:6860 Samsung Electronic Co

gnomad issues on Lucid 5.2.0
I have installed Gnomad 2.9.6 on a laptop running Lucid 5.2.0. The program loads up fine and I am able to view files on both the laptop and the android device (Asus tablet). When I click a button to transfer a file, however, the Gnomad window disappears. Yet, the file transfer still takes place. I suspect this behavior is occurring because the application requires a UTF-8 language package to function properly. Can someone confirm if indeed this is the case? BTW, I don't believe there are UTF-8 language packages available for Lucid 5.2.0(?)

Gnomad2 v2.9.6 + libmtp for MP3 players
Hi all,
finally work.
I've connected today my nokia lumia 920 with my notebook with puppy lucid 5.8.2
I've download a video from smartphone to notebook.
Unfortunly ONLY .MP4 files are reconignized from gnamad2 .
the .JPG images on phone are not displayed and transferred.
They are some setting for make possible for gnomad view .jpg files?
Thanks
Roberto

The underlying libmtp library in Gnomad2 has not kept pace with the latest MTP devices, especially smartphones.
The best Linux application for communicating with MTP devices is now go-mtpfs
This is a commandline application, but there are various GUI's which Puppy developers have contributed here -

Success trasnfert all kind of files from nokia 920 and notebook!
For .mp3 /mp4 file used gnomad2 , for the others type of files i've used via console the libmtp files installed with gnomad2.
Stange the impossibility of gnomad2 to recognize other than mp files ..maybe a problem in GUI interface?
