Works great. Not a lot was tested (but a very noticeable bug was the browse icon was not set correctly).

Thank you pemasu - your ssl-certificate-fix-0.0.1.pet fixed my download problems with Qt-Web v 3.8.4 (which did not exist in v 3.7.3).

Qt-Web has been my most used browser for many months, but there may be three aspects for new users to take care with:

(1) If the download window is cleared using "Clean up" with any download(s) still in the original download location then total loss will occur.
(2) Before adding any personalised shortcuts it is suggested making a backup of the Qt-Web folder - because although it's a great feature - there may be a few strange and irrecoverable non-working results (at least for non-experts like me).
(3) I renamed my bookmarks to shorten them (or put them in a-long-bookmarks folder). Also, if a large number of bookmarks are imported the bookmark sidebar may look strange - until some items have been shortened and/or moved into new folders.

It has included this file:
/etc/xdg/menus/puppy-multimedia.menu

That file does not have the new multimedia submenu entries. It will cause that openbox does not show for example: Asunder, Gnome-Mplayer, Mhwaveedit, Pdvdrsap.
I think fix and reupload is recommended.

Openbox with extras is now called OpenboxPlus. It has two panel options (Lxpanel/Tint2) a fix for the xdg menu and many other enhancements:

I realize that 5.6.4 is targeted at older computers but this computer felt

I installed Seamonkey 2.17.1 in ppm.
I added xbmc-12.2_frodo_sfs4.sfs because xbmc-11.0 in ppm tends to
crash often, and openboxp-1.0.1.pet.

Precise 5.6.4 alpha is working great so far.

Hi Barry et al,
A quick test run on Intel atom n270/945GSE eeepc.
Boots cleanly, runs smoothly and fast. No boot errors in logs, except these two insignificant warnings, in case they are of any interest to you: Regarding the two included browsers. My humble thought is this. Puppy Linux should ship without a preinstalled browser. If posts on this forum are any indication, we will never have a browser that fits all. More importantly, Barry, we just can't afford to have your precious dev time wasted on browsers. They are not worth your breath, given the scope of work that's already on the plate.

Having followed your posts on the blog, I understand that this build is aimed at older hardware. I have a suggestion that will make Precise more consistent with its stated goal. Can you please, recompile the kernel as a pure, true uniprocessor kernel, no SMP? I do recall you had such a kernel in the past.

Working well so far.

EDIT: I updated ppm and added Vlc-2.0.5 from ppm,connected an external
monitor,usb keyboard and mouse combination.
Movies DVD's play great, even full screen.
This 701SD is working even better now.

Manual frugal to an ntfs partition on the E732 laptop and booting with grub4dos from an ext2 SDcard.
Both opera and seamonkey seem to run exceptionally well. As does QtWeb.
No issues so far - all looking very good, not far off the perfect puppy. Nice.
Better than nice - exceptional.
Now to try on the 10yr old Acer laptop.

On your blog you were asking about Chromium. This one works in Precise 5.6.1 though you may wish to make your own alterations to the switches in the exec line at the end of the chrome-wrapper script in the main folder.

Pidgin bug:
There is something wrong with irc plugin.
pidgin --debug:

It disables testing of freenode and puppylinux channel.

#puppylinux channel is ok. There is all the time people asking help about how to get this and that working. I think that discussion of how bad things are in #puppylinux channel, tells more about those complaining people. The same complainers have created havoc in murga-forum sometimes. My explicit experience is that #puppylinux forum is the right forum to ask help in chat and there is nothing wrong with it.

I copied over irc plugin libirc.so from my wheezy 2.10.6 compile and got pidgin working. I did login to the #puppylinux with attached pidgin-autoinstall script. I fixed the script Barry K posted in his blog.

I am using Precise 5.6.1 made a test with 5.6.4 Precise .
Works fine so far .Dont want to complain ....but why when testing glxgears
precise 5.6.1 give double framerate over 5.6.4 ( the Rarings Pups also half the framerate compared to Precise 5.6.1) ?

Is there something one could do about ? (is it really nessessary ? )

Working OK on my 12 year old Celeron/Rage box...
Comparing some display information with Wary 5.5:

Here is the irc plugin for Barry`s pidgin testing purpose. It has been picked up from my Dpup Wheezy pidgin 2.10.6 compile so it is not the quite right one. It works though.

Jabber plugin from that compile does not work in Barry`s compile. There is ssl-gnutls version mismatch.
