Many thanks Barry - downloading it now :)
Xorg worked OK and I am on line - so my burner is OK ( see bugs - )
tkfont is much better (simple, nice works) than xfontsel - which never seemed to work in any way that was helpful - maybe it should be removed in 1.0.8?

Have to go play - many thanks :)

Merry Christmas. How far we have come over the last few months. Incredible adventure! :)

Oh, yeah, it was premature mentioning usr_devx.sfs.
I have only just started to upload it.

One thing about tkFont that is not obvious, is I hacked it so you click on any font name and it automatically goes into the clipboard ...should you ever have a need to copy a font name anywhere (?)

I tried to download it but only got about 20M so I'm downloading from Mark's site. Should have it soon.

Thanks Barry.

Puppy Tardis Beta - Release version New Years Eve / New Years Day
Image

8) Ian, you will be able to use your new broad band to good effect . . . My first question is about my graphic tablet (wacom) I should be able to use that with xorg?

Control panel / set global font - that is a good one as is the new new "package manager" - click on install to load new programs. Very straightforward
explanation . . .

Multiple concurrent PupGet/Unleashed versions?

#12 Post by flavour »

Just about to reboot into 1.0.7 beta now :)

Updated Wiki whilst I was waiting for it to download:
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppy107

When can we expect a PupGet/Unleashed selection of packages available to complement this?
- to me this is a critical part of the evaluation...

I don't see any system on iBiblio for storing multiple concurrent versions of these packages...is this right?
With this fast a release rate, it would be great if 3 releases could be supported at once (2x stable & 1 development)

Keep up the great work all :)

Using Axel Downloaded 61.5 megabytes in 4:25 seconds. (237.36 KB/s)

I am wondering before booting if you included the changes for the fonts ? As mentioned http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=4672 in this post.

Will give it a look & see what we got. Thanks BK, and GOD bless you all.
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

WOW! the fonts sure look alot sharper. No problem on my laptop, small problem on a desktop the horz. refresh came up as 40.3 hz when I tried to increase it, the screen went black and poped up an error. Changed the monitor setting in the .conf file to 60 - 85 hz and everything worked. I think I need to tweak the font settings for mozilla they look a little thin.

All good now - after dl'ing from original site (MU's site seems to have a corrupt .iso - 2x md5sum's identically incorrect).

Xorg works fine in 1024x768
- although if I try to re-run the Wizard then it reboots my system!
(I did try 1280x800m, but it jumped straight to 2048x1536, which worked but was too small to be usable)

Love the new unified Package Installer front-end

Mark!
Two different guys have reported a bad download.

When you say it "reboots my system", how are you running the Wizard?
If you exit from X, then type "xorgwizard" at the commandline, it should
not reboot.

I'm running from the Start menu: Setup | Xorg Video Wizard | XorgWizard

xorgwizard from CLI works fine (having exited to prompt)

NB I amended the earlier screen res for correctness, so:
1280x800 goes to 2048x1536!
1280x960 is fine :)
1280x1024 goes to 800x600

This is an nVidia VGA card

The usr_devx.sfs was ok before already.
