It's 120MB, you'll find it here along with the devx file.:
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/kirk/Fatdog/iso/112/
Note: You'll see versions of the iso and devx files with logrow-aufs2, DO NOT use these, they are experimental.
A Open Office 3.01 sfs file is here:
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/kirk/Fatdog/ ... ice3.1.sfs
And a pet package for ATI's fglrx driver:
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/kirk/Fatdog/ ... rx-9.2.pet
Username=puppy
Password=linux
Note: I did not compile the extra modem drivers. I did enable "Development" modules. So there is some different hardware support. For instance, the rtl8180 wifi module is in there.

Hi kirk,
I fixed the permissions on .asia for the devx and copied the new files to .ca

Eric,
Thanks for for fixing the permissions. I keep forgetting to check that. Most of all thanks for the hosting!
Sage,
Oh yes, SeaMonkey version is 1.1.15. I know there's a 1.1.16 out with a couple of fixes, but not worth the bother. I did try the latest Opera10a snapshot, seems a lot slower on pages with Flash than the previous version, you still can't post comments to Barry's blog and then there's the FTP issues. I really do like Opera 10, especially since Fatdog has QT, but it's not quite there yet. One big problem with Opera is that web designers tend to test out their creations with IE and Firefox and that's all. I'm not sure if/how Opera overcomes this. Maybe if IE and Firefox become acid3 compliant.

I am normally very quiet about this, but I guess it's time to raise my voice. By necessity, I will have to vote against Opera as the default browser until the problem is fixed (by Opera --- this is not a puppy problem).
The problem I will mention was true for Linux version of Opera 9. I have not tested Opera 10, and Windows versions of Opera have no problems. SM and firefox do not have problem.
Linux version of Opera cannot authenticate with proxy servers which uses NTLM authentication.
Who use NTLM authentication for proxy server? Well, most offices who uses MS ISA server (=that's MS proxy server) do. Most ISA installation will be configured with NTLM authentication to allow seamless integration between IE and Windows logon.
In this circumstances, no NTLM authentication = no proxying = no Internet. End of story.
I would rather have a default browser that will work in most conditions, though it may be a bit slow/sluggish/resource-hungry/bad-looking/(insert other complaints here) --- rather than one which is known to be not working in one significant use case.
Those who are not hampered by this condition can always download Opera from the repo.
cheers!

The Linux version of Opera (even the latest Opera 10 snapshot) has other BIG issues:
- Flash videos are extremely choppy / slow. Many sites don't work with Opera+Flash10, especially those free pr0n sites
- https sites take ages to load, hang or fail. 90% of the time, you have to reload the page 3 times to get it working.
- Try to open distrowatch.com with Opera. You won't see any images (access forbidden ?!?)

Too much BS about Opera around here. Of course Distrowatch resolves correctly.
Folks need to appreciate that Opera is NOT IE, nor is it Firefox, or even SlimeMonster. Why should they do things like the rest of the bunch when those other browsers are known to be defective?! Take a few moments to make sure your HW is running correctly, that your Puppy is loaded and running properly, then spend a few more seconds making sure you've set up Opera for your preferences. If there are some extra features about Opera that you need - have you emailed them/reported bugs/contributed to their Forum - just like you do here?! Professionals can approach the Opera management directly with suggestions and will be pleasantly surprised by the reception they receive, unlike most other developers.

I made a big mistake!
I put the wrong kernel in the ISO. I'll re-upload the iso tonight. I'll post again when it's up.
EDIT: It's Fixed ; I uploaded it at about 14:00 GMT.

You should make a new pup_save file. With out looking through the init script, It may only try to mount it ext3.will a 4.1.2 pup_save (ext2) work in 1.12? Or do I have to start anew?
Also, I'm going to re-upload the devx file. Jamesbond noticed the symlinks from the kernel source are wrong. Should be done in a couple hours.
3fs error
I noted that pup_save displayed errors at the second shutdown in an all-ntfs hard disk. Is there any filesystem preference for the pup_save.3fs host partition?
Also, FYI, "set global font" in the menu does not work.

Puppy user since Oct 2004. Want FreeOffice? Get the sfs (English only).
Re: 3fs error
I can't help about this the first one - I also noted that and kirk told me it's happens due to the way puppy use aufs/unionfs for its save file.raffy wrote:I noted that pup_save displayed errors at the second shutdown in an all-ntfs hard disk. I can help you with no 2: Open /usr/sbin/set-xftdpi with geany, and replace the exec line with this one:
Code: Select all
exec gins /usr/sbin/set-xftdpi.sh /usr/sbin/set-xftdpi.glade
There is another small issue - missing smb link (need to print to Windows shared printers). /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb should be a symlink to /opt/samba/bin/smbspool.
I know all this from 111 days but I made minor adjustment myself and forgot the report it to kirk - sorry !!!

How to make amdcccle (AMD/ATI control center) work
How to make amdcccle (AMD/ATI control center) work - well at least display the window ((I haven't tried whether the feature in the control panel actually works ...) but it's better than seeing a segfault. This is only applicable for you who install the ATI driver (ati_fglrx_9.2.pet).
Create a file named "users" elsewhere in your path (I choose /usr/bin).
The only purpose of this file is to print the word "root" to the screen. (For actual use of users, please read here http://www.manpagez.com/man/1/users/ - puppy only have one user, root)
This is how I do it - open terminal and type this exactly, pressing Enter key at end of every line
Then you can run the AMD/ATI control center (from terminal type "amdcccle") and it should display now.
cheers!

I tried again to install 412 on USB stick, and got the same black screen syndrome as with 410 & 411.
Why is this happening only on netbook Aspire One ???
This sucks big time as I like the way it works on the CD.
I'll try to run from the CD on a desktop and make the USB install with this machine to see what happens.
