nooby; back when puppy 4.0 was New, if you were to google [not bing!! ] puppy linux, the first result used to be puppylinux.com, I believe followed by puppy.org, and you would have had to search a bit for the murga forum. OK Now... while/when gimp or mtPaint has it open for you, go to the top under image/scale canvas, scale the canvas to abt 600 x whatever, and it will be small enough to display on the forum instead of being a download...Hint, use preview of the post to check for appropriate size.

All good info, But. I tried it with 5.2 also.. once you have set up "gprs" it will not display again. The only way to change anything thereafter, was to do it in the "Dial-up" dialog using "probe"! At least on the two box's that I have with version 5.

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions! I think that the main topic is about the kernel and puppy version, an older ones take less space (the puppy 1.0.x are very impressive!) - and then the other is about the packets installed. Nevertheless, I still look at White Fang: even if it's built from 3.0...

I have a suggestion before you change Puppy versions: there's a chance that these older USB wifi drivers "misbehave" with USB2.0 interfaces, and the driver might work OK if you force your USB interface to the old USB1.1 standard. I have seen this reported a few times. So boot up without y...

I suspect that Frugal install is perhaps more stable. I use it for the back-up, ability, and I can change machines easily, yet take my "stuff" with me!!

Also It may be the easiest to "install"!

I just tried to go back into the gprs setup myself, and it is as you say... nothing happens... But, If you go to the "dialup analog or wirelass modem" setup, you can "probe" to change the device as well as the setup, at least I could in 4.3.1!

I would put the swap "partition" on hdb7! Puppy will use 2 if you have 'em.
I have personally not noticed any performance hit related to using swap... only Not having it.
I generally set up a fairly generous swap, at least the 512 if not more .. but that is just Me being... me!
