I downloaded Slacko 5.3 (or Puppy 5.29) and ran it on a live CD. Unfortunately, I could not configure the sound on my computer (HP a800n, AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 320 GB, 1 GB RAM, Creative SB0570 audio card). I tried the ALSA wizard, but when I clicked it, a dialog box briefly flashed on the screen and then disappeared. I do not have this problem with Puppy 5.28, and am listening to some mp3's after configuring with the ALSA wizard. 5.3 audio works out of the box on my HPDV9000 series laptop.

Also, for whatever reason, when downloading Chromium browser from Slickpet (as well as Quickpet on 5.28), it installs, but when I try to launch it from the start menu, nothing happens. It does not load. Instead, I'm using the Firefox browser.

1. Typing this from Slacko-5.3
It's looking nice, and generally functioning well...
Except:

2. Psip32 Puppy Phone still freezes on my hardware when I attempt to "Setup".
Has the latest version [1.2?] been modified yet, so as to eliminate this problem on older hardware?

3. Is it possible to edit the isolinux.cfg file in the ISO [pmedia=ataflash] so that the Puppy will treat a pupsave on an internal HDD partition as though it's a pupsave on a Flash Drive partition?
Not sure if I've already tried this [in an earlier Slacko] and had it fail.
I consider [the ability to do] this to be a VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE.

The latest slacko build Puppy Phone I am aware of is 10 October
http://www.smokey01.com/software/psip/P ... Slacko.pet

There are later builds that are designed for Wary that may also work on Slacko. Find them here by clicking on the red phone

Note mickos next post . . .

1. See this post by Stripe. [Posted at 7:33 this morning]
He had intended to attempt to eliminate problems with version 1.2 experienced by by those who [like me] were experiencing problems using it on their older [8-year-old in my case] hardware.
