Audio volume, internet icons gone from JWM tray (Solved)

#1 Post by jockjunior »

Hi,
Puppy 5.01 hd full install.

Somehow I have lost the volume icon and the internet connection icon from jmwtray. Any ideas what I've done and how to repair it?

I will be away for the next couple of days so thanks in advance and see you soon.

What happens when you run retrovol from a terminal?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

Check your /root/.jwmrc-tray In there should be the code that is responsabile for

<Swallow name="blinky">
blinky
</Swallow>

and this line in /root/.jwmrc

Code:
<Include>/root/.jwmrc-tray</Include>

Also check your /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons..

There is where you will find all the mini icons...That`s how i replaced the puppy with a gorilla :P

I am not sure if it will work in 5.01 but it definitely works in 4.3.1..

Actually there is no reason why it should not work....

Good luck mate!

OK. I think you'd better boot with the option pfix=fsck (in case the icons are missing because the filesystem in your save file has become corrupt), then either download and reinstall retrovol, or boot with pfix=clean, which will restore all the official files that come on the Puppy CD to their original state. Reinstalling retrovol is probably the better alternative.

Do you mean the "connect" icon on the desktop? I don't see a connect icon in the tray.

I think he's talking about blinky (or perhaps something similar).

 Dosh - presumably you've tried rebooting?
