Hello all,
The way I found Puppy Linux in the first place was like this:
I always wanted to have a portable Windows distro to carry around, but it was always a bit problematic for Windows to detect new software and install drivers for devices on every computer it got booted on. Then I started experimenting with WMware Player and got the idea of carrying a virtual Windows machine. That seemed to solve everything. But I had to find small and portable host os, because WMware ESX Server had problems same as portable Windows distribution. Long time ago I had some work done with Damn Small Linux, therefore it is known as the smallest in size OS available, but I didn't like it's UI and WMware Player just didn't want to install into it. Then I tried Puppy Linux, and after couple of days all my systems were up and running just fine. Several days after that I was still playing around with options and customizations and found out that I fell in love with Puppy and that I don't need no Windows virtual machine any more while having Puppy...
But still there is a little problem: as many other Windows users I'm dependant on some specific software. I've checked this out and found that Wine supports that software.
The problem is that I'm trying to install Wine for several days now, but can't seem to get it up working. Sometimes there's no menu entries, always there are missing dependencies which I can't find to download anywhere. I've tried installing 10-20 different .pet packages, several .sfs systems, but nothing works and I'm getting a little nervous
I've read lots of Mb of informations at this forum, but never found a working solution. So if there is an advanced user running Puppy 4.3.1 distro who managed to install latest Wine into it, could he PLEASE privide me a .sfs or .pet package?
That would give me a chance of giving up Windows for all (eventually )
Thanks
Wine & Puppy 4.3.1

wine pet packages are here

you can ignore warnings about missing dependencies: wine will be fully working anyway

I tried loading Wine via menu, directly from /usr/bin/wine, tried from console and etc. etc., but it gave me absolutely no response. Nor even could I load wineconf.
Because I've managed to install VMware Player and Opera 10, I know a program acts like that when it has missing dependencies, and when those dependencies are somehow fixed, everything works out just fine
So I don't think that might be the case...
I know of 2 puplets with wine already installed.

That might be a solution, but still I need to get my own install doing what I want. It's customized like I want and also do not forget educational purposes of this

As a matter of fact I did, but it didn't work until recently...
I've finally managed to get it working (at least a little bit)
Now Wine lets me to config it, and even runs its own apps
But...
When I try to load it via terminal it says: Module not found (in Lithuanian).
Doesn't really help me with knowing what module can't it find...
Puppy dependency scanner told me to install these libraries:
- liblber-2.4.so.2
libldap_r-2.4.so.2
libsasl2.so.2
But what must I do now?
It finally works, it's soooo cool
But who can tell me why my icons look like that (I mean folder icons on winrar, see screenshot)?
