Puppy has its universal installer, but Unetbootin has -to some- its familiar interface. So I would like to include it to the puppy version I distribute to friends.

I have tried the deb2pet converter to make this version into a pet:

the conversion to a pet is smooth but when I try to run it it asks for

sfdisk (util-linux)

vol_id (udev)

mtools

At the moment I am not sure how to proceed... so is there anyone here who is willing to make a working unetbootin.pet?

It's not popular amonst those who have had windows installs trashed by it so perhaps you might have to do this yourself and take the responsibility.

I recommend learning about grub4dos which is a safe way to add on puppy and linux in general when there is windows present...will keep your popularity rating up otherwise maybe tinker with the universal installer if you feel its a bit confusing...

Windows trashed? Have not seen that yet (with Unetbootin). But anyway, what I would like to have is a Unetbootin as puppy application. There is no possibility to trash windows this way.

I have tried to get it going with no luck but would love to see it. I use it not to install puppy but when running puppy (If I could get it to work, I actually boot into ubuntu) I use it to install other distro's to a usb stick to play with.

if even the dev of UNetbootin fail to do it then it is very difficult to achieve.

I have done my best to engage both of them since 2008 and I trust that if they have not provided such linux program yet then it is too difficult at the moment.

So two suggestions.

1. Contact tuxcantfly on his own sites about Unetbootin or the user AGO who is active on Ubuntuforums because both of them was into Wubi and they know most about how to do such things.

2. Look at pendrivelinux. They have tried to do similar things and have alternative to UNetbootin so ypu can compare how others have tried to do same thing.

3.
Maybe the best suggestion is to do a script that mimic a pure manual frugal install of Puppy on USB or HDD

I tested what rcrsn51 links to. And even I who is lousy using descriptions got it to work so his description is a good one.

So give it a try and tell us the result please.

If you insist on using UNetbootin.

Why not do as I did. I wrote a friendly email to the maker or dev of UNetbootin and now some 5 month later no answer from him anywhere so I trust that if even he fail to do what you suggest then none else can do it either.

So what rcrsn51 suggest is a practical way to do it.

There is now a Pet for unetbootin for Lucid 5.1...

[Solved] Unetbootin.pet (3 pet files to install0 Works!
Installs a .ISO file onto a USB Flash Drive and makes it bootable.

Unetbootin 581 works on Lucid Puppy 5.2.8
I downloaded the file from Mediadrive

This worked for my test to install tiny core linux 4.7 onto a USB 8G flash drive.
You may use unetbootin running under PuppyLinux to install a different distros .ISO file into
a USB Flash drive without burning a CD-R disk first with that .ISO file.

how they set up things so how do the Unetbootin know how to do it

Is it a frugal install or a full install on that USB? Can you share the menu.lst how the prograt set it up? My old version has this one

This Unetbootin.pet seems exactly what I need. I do not know how to download it. I have downloaded .pets from discussion forum in the past, but I can not find a button which allows me to download this pet. What can I do?

To do what? Do you want to use Puppy to make bootable flash drives of other Linuxes? If so, the easiest tool is ISObooter.

I use unetbootin in all my puppies without having to create a pet. If one wants to use unetbootin in puppy for whatever reason instead of isobooter, the good news is that it works:
