I've also been watching oldies lately, especially those that I for some reason missed when I was younger. Watched The Poseidon Adventure (1972) last night.

Fritz Lang`s- - METROPOLIS--
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I9FD21k7Cs
In 2001, the film was inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register, the first film thus distinguished .

Some Comments on it:

"I watched this on netflix 2 years ago. Was expecting to get bored in 5 minutes. But this film blew me away! The pacing, editing, acting, score, production design, special effects, tone and story economy were at the max! This movie had me at the edge of my seat watching it unfold. I finished the entire movie and gave serious thought of watching it again immediately! This movie, a nearly 100 year old silent, german film spoke to me in a way modern movies just cannot do. This is an ultimate experience of pure cinema mastery. I love movies so this is on my top ten list."

"Everybody needs to watch this movie at least once in their life.
This movie is almost 100 years old. Take that in for a moment."

"I no joke sat the first 30 minutes on my couch with my jaw dropped. I expected a film of torturing boredom, but this is one of the best films i‘ve ever watched"

"Absolutely breathtaking. This film is so ahead of its time its impossible to comprehend."

"One of the best science-fiction film that I can't express the kind of hard work and imagination the team had brought to the platter. One of the best films that I will remember always for sure."

"92 years old and it still works. What a masterpiece."

"Unimaginable that it was made in 1927..way too ahead of its times..hats off to the vision and execution..loved it..must watch before we die...treasure of world cinema..music set perfect .."

"Metropolis. Of COURSE it's one of the best films you've ever watched."

"This movie blew my wig back when I first saw it cause I couldn't believe how good it was. It has tied for my favorite movie of all time with the color purple."

DOA was great. Remake in the 80s (I think) with Dennis Quaid was very different but also good.

I'm currently working through the movies based on Stephen King's books. Did you know that about 50 films have been made based on his stories? Some good, others not so much. I've managed to download almost all of them.

Heinrich Dorfmann/Elliott was an INTJ.

Trivia Question: In the movie Rain Man, Charlie and Raymond spend the night at a cheap motel on their way to Las Vegas. There is a movie playing on the room's television set. Name the movie.

Here another lost Gem ....from out of this World :
An absolutely must have seen .

Saw this Film as a Child .....still suffering post-traumatic Disorders ......

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRYGw0HasDE

(German: Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari) is a 1920 German silent horror film, directed by Robert Wiene and written by Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer.
Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist cinema, it tells the story of an insane hypnotist (Werner Krauss) who uses a somnambulist (Conrad Veidt) to commit murders. The film features a dark and twisted visual style, with sharp-pointed forms, oblique and curving lines, structures and landscapes that lean and twist in unusual angles, and shadows and streaks of light painted directly onto the sets.

The film presents themes on brutal and irrational authority; Dr. Caligari represents the German war government, and Cesare is symbolic of the common man conditioned, like soldiers, to kill.
In his influential book From Caligari to Hitler, Siegfried Kracauer says the film reflects a subconscious need in German society for a tyrant, and it is an example of Germany's obedience to authority and unwillingness to rebel against deranged authority. He says the film is a premonition of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, and says the addition of the frame story turns an otherwise "revolutionary" film into a "conformist" one.

Other themes of the film include the destabilized contrast between insanity and sanity, the subjective perception of reality, and the duality of human nature.

I happened to be up late at night last week and caught an old favorite "ElDorado". A fine John Wayne Western.
