WPS office 2019

#1 Post by stemsee »

WPS office 2019 for linux comes with its own builtin browser.

The browser renders youtube videos excellently!

Default search engine is baidu.

Seems not to support pinch to zoom or other page zoom function.

Renders pages as quickly as any other browser i have used.

Im posting from the browser now.

Edit: there is a menu page zoom function.

Thanks for sharing this, will get it. I was just deciding whether to install libreoffice in buster 8.0 or some alternative.

I gave up on it.
I don't know why, but it insisted on reducing anything I copied from emails from 10 point to 6 point with a different font.
I could set it up as I wanted on the monitor, but when I printed it was wrong.

When I tried to post (upload) a image at postimage.org using the wps browser it didn't work - had to resort to starting/using chrome to do that. Seemingly 'not there' enough for me to transition over from a LibreOffice/Chrome combination to using WPS alone.

Interesting feedback!

There is a menu zoom function.

It is their first attempt and still, imo, pretty good, but clearly more to be done.

I will send in some feedback to wps, based on what has been reported so far.

cheers all

Interesting. Do you know what it is based on? (chrome, gecko...)

There is the other side of the argument that the WPS browser is 'good enough' and that we've been led into bad habits by the likes of Google that facilitate Google capturing personal profiles and targeting ads.

Google is discriminatory and with the political will it could be restricted/punished for that. If your high street shop selectively stopped certain individuals from entering then there's legal redress for that action. With online shops however there's massive amounts of discrimination. Rightfully individuals should be provided similar opportunities to buy or do things no matter if they're using Google's own browser, or Links (or WPS's). Most businesses would also prefer such openness, as otherwise potential trade/profits are being denied access to their products/services.
