Just for fun I made two new backgrounds based on the stars.edj. I used the brushed metal background from this thread :

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=46399

And a pup face logo and a e17/pup logo . Both backgrounds are up on my macpup page as pup.edj and pup2.edj Take them apart and compare them to the stuff in the stars.edj .

All MacPup

#187 Post by racepres »

I have not posted in quite some time! Busy times..Just wanted to say thanks again to runtt21, and all who contribute to macpup. The last puter on the place just got ubuntu s*** canned off of it today! Darn thing had my website so messed up I was "forbidden"... don't know what happened but never has been a problem w/ any Puppy distro. All of our "boxes" are running Puppy (most of 'em MacPup something or other), except the Macs in the office, and unfortunately, my trusty g3 powerbook, which has to have a dual boot to Debian Sarge (Plus), cause ... alas No Puppies for the Mac!!! How unfortunate. Anyway just rambling and handing out some "Atta Boys"
Thanks again

#190 Post by Tech33 »

Hi
I like Macpup Opera very much earlier I was using Macpup 412 and was very happy with it but since I am using Enlightenment first time in my life (I am a linux noob) so can some one tell me how can I change icons ? Also When I change the themes in the Macpup Opera The icons in Bottom shelf goes out of order how can I fix that. Additionally Can some one attach the Modules that are present in Macpup Opera 061 ?

Read back through this thread for how to change icons on the ibar , The extra modules for opera are also earlier in thread.Changing themes should not effect the icons on ibar at all.

What do I need to do to get the mplayer plugin to work in Macpup opera 61?

Or a better question might be how to play m3u streams with the Gxine plugin?

I was not sure where I should post this question.

I have had a great deal of fun configuring the window manger in Macpup Opera. As soon as I can get the streaming audio working I will be a happy chappy.

Thanks

Charlie

Your best bet would be to find a .pet of mplayer here on the forum. I have tried a few but was never happy with any of them. Gxine in macpup is the same as the regular puppy's , it has not been changed at all. So you might ask in the how to section ,I have never tried to stream . Sorry Dude.

I have the Mplayer .pet, but it does not work llike regular Puppy., there is a open with gxine option in the initrd/pup_ro2/root/.config/rox_sourcforge.net folder that I do not know how to change. That is what I think I need to do so that I can change the default program to open the .m3u streams.

Or I could be completely wrong, I am pretty new to Linux.

Two suggestions :

One , try using streamtuner, it's in the menu under Mulitmedia .

Two edit /usr/local/bin/ defaultmediaplayer or defaultmusicplayer

I have added a simple animated background to go with that theme. Check out the Macpup-Red2-bg.edj on my macpup page.

Hi,
Really love how E17 is running on MacPup. At some point I had installed YellowDog on my sister's old MacG4 but there wasn't much easy configuration going on then and I abandoned it.

I set both TeenPup and MacPup out in front of my 11yo daughter and had her navigate around a while. Interesting that while my wife & I really loved the simple desktop of MacPup, my daughter felt far more comfortable with the big one click icons and desktop of TeenPup. I'm going to try again with a larger E17 ibar, still getting accustomed to navigating around to configure. Still can't find the option of adding a 2nd "shelf" for launchers as well as desktop widgets. Will keep trying and orienting myself to it and I keep liking Macpup more & more as I use it. Setting up the wireless was a breeze!! Thanks!

To add a new shelf , menu - settings - shelves then "add" select setup then set contents or advanced . But you only have one ibar . You can add icons to the desktop but e17 has a bug with them .After you open an app or even close that app the icons stays selected untill you click on the desktop. Just COPY ( dont move) the .desktop file of the app you want from /usr/share/applications to root/desktop. You will need to double click on the icon to launch the app.

Thanks,
I had figured out adding another shelf but realized extra ibars only produce the identical ibar. Will try the tip for a few extra launchers and maybe look for more shelf gadgets if available.
