I stumbled across the following wiki about backports of drivers:
https://backports.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page
This may be useful, for anyone wishing to make an old version of puppylinux work on a newer computer, without updating the kernel.
A reason someone may want to do this is to have a light weight linux distribution running in an virtual machine. While virtual box can run older versions of linux there are potential compatibility issues with hardware and this would be a starting point in addressing them.
Another reason someone might want to do this is to have a version of puppylinux that they can easily move between new and old computers on say a USB stick.
