Questions for Barry...

If you attach AZERTY keyboard to Remix mini is it possible
to change input method ( in bottom bar) to recognize the new
french language keyboard.

Note : There are stickers that can be bought to convert QWERTY to AZERTY

I have recently fixed a bug in SNS, in latest Quirky 7.2.3, where SNS was failing to connect.

Yeah, there are settings for keyboard layouts.

Yes, Google Docs. I was expecting Word!

Right-click: not quite as useful as I expected. Not running it now, so don't know specifically about file icons.

One thing I don't like, is I can't turn off double-clicking for icons on the desktop!
This is the default for MS Windows, but in Windows there is a setting for single-click.

Then paired with my bluetooth mouse ok.

Then tried a couple of bluetooth keyboards, it wouldn't recognise their existence. Actually, I have four bluetooth keyboards, will try all of them.
But there does seem to be a problem.
I have posted a bug report:

Looks like a definite bug, you can only connect one bluetooth device.

Quoting from https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ji ... c/comments:
I've been playing with my mini all day, works smooth, the only thing is that I can't connect 2 bluetooth devices at the time for example a mouse and a keyboard except for that is excellent.

Hi guys, just got my mini and found a bunch of bugs! Post yours in the comment section and we can try to see whats wrong/know that you are not alone on this, while Jide engineers try to fix it!

1. While playing videos, audio is very choppy, to a point making videos not enjoyable. As shown below
https://goo.gl/photos/uZheDe8Mv7JZz7PSA
EDIT: I have found the causation of this problem. I am connected to three bluetooth devices. My Microsoft Wedge Keyboard, my Apple 1st Gen Magic Trackpad, and my Creative D80 speaker. When the total amount of connected device is less than 2 (speaker included), than the audio returns to nomral. I am guessing that this is due to the fact that the Mini is allocating bluetooth signals in between devices.

2. I cannot seem to be able to scroll though long emails using the Gmail app
3. Is there an auto reorganize option for the app icons on the desktop
4. While using a trackpad in the app drawing, two finger scrolling will grab the app instead of scrolling through the app drawer
5. There is not indication onscreen to see if keyboard is Caplocked or not
6. Messaging applications (such as kik and Facebook Messenger) does not send notification unless app is open
7. With trackpad, two finger click/right click does not enable auto correct. Matter of fact nothing seems to bring the AOSP auto correct word suggestion menu

JIDE forum talks about right click support

Code: Select all

No right click support?

Apparently there is no right-click support in the Remix OS? It'd be awesome if a right-click would simulate a long-press.

I've noticed the same thing when I was attempting to save an image from the Internet. You have to hold the left button as you would long-press a touchscreen. It feels very inconsistent with the rest of the OS, but we have to realize that it is a work in progress. I do hope that there will be system wide support for right-click in the future.

Right click support seems to depend on the app. The file manager and desktop have it, Microsoft Office has it, but Chrome does not. I might play around with some other browsers.

I found the following player works on recent Android tablets.

BSP v1.5.136 [4.0+].apk ---link broken

However I found that mp4 videos were out of sync with audio.

Here's another link that worked

although uk keyboard selected in setup the @ symbol resides above the number 2 and not the apostrophe

had a quick play attached to the tv as I don't have a hdmi monitor, not the best setup for testing

Ah, yes. And what does <shift+3> give?
Can't blame the Chinese, they've been brainwashed about language and symbols by our country cousins as much as RoW!
Notwithstanding, all the OSes I've encountered have a routine to reassign keys. However, it's not always straightforward, perhaps never so to the unwashed like YT, as I've never succeeded in that operation, so essential on the dustbin loads of duff laptops with missing, damaged or just inoperative keys. How say you?

uk media streaming?

#77 Post by peebee »

I'm having problems with both BBC i-Player and ITV Player in the UK....

i-Player plays c. 1 sec of program and then dies

itv-player plays the opening advert but then fails to open the requested program at all.

Anybody else in uk had these problems?

Applies to both the individual apps and also to playing inside the built-in google-chrome browser.

Using Adobe FlashPlayer? Which version? Don't think any of them work with Android or ARM archetectures? And Auntie only uses FP: due to switch to HTML5 soon. But their engineers had it ready years ago, allegedly, so guess who's holding it up!

Know a man who can/might if it's possible - and he already has a unit.

Yes I know Barry has one but he hasn't posted anything yet on running Quirky on it as of yet. I have lots of android devices but like running puppy mostly. The remix is 64bit x86 I take it, but before I purchased another all in one 32 bit years ago but it was so slow and buggy, It was a complete waste of time and money. Arm 7" tablets aren't bad for android, I have a acer one I purchased at walmart for like $100 and it runs great for the price, Only thing it can overheat and takes like 2hrs for it to cool down, only happened twice in 5 months, but compared with the other 6 tablets I've had over the years the acer one is excellent. But really what I'm looking for is a multimedia mini pc that I can run puppy on to watch tv, movies etc.
