slacko-5.6 Final - plus testing next
Tested PAE version
Your V...71 "screams" in its performance. Wow! Thanks to you in this beta.
Also setup on 1GB early P4 lappie with same phenomenal results.

I gave the F2FS Installer - Flash Drives another try using a 32gb
flash drive.
I loaded the devx and kernel source sfs files using SFS Load
on-the-fly, again it took about 20 minutes for them to load and used a
good sized chunk of the free space on the drive.
After installing the ati driver and some other stuff I used the SFS
manager to download and install a couple of sfs files (audacious and
google earth) and they are about 1/10th the size of the devx and
kernel source sfs but they installed in less than a minute.
I wonder if installing the large sfs files would work better with the
SFS manager?
Downloading them from the nluug mirror would be a whole
lot faster than downloading them from ibiblio if SFS manager could be
configured to use nluug.

Is SFS manager exactly the same as SFS load-on-the-fly or have you modified it somehow?

Hi Mick
To conclude mplayer + audio issue...
It doesn't seem to be mplayer fault at all - I did downgrade ffmpeg (the one from 5.5) and audio in .wmv has returned; no additional codecs needed.
Greetings!

Try this; get a wmv file (there are some at mplayerhq) and confirm that sound fails with mplayer. Now try it with ffplay, works. I'll rebuild mplayer to see if it can be fixed, or possibly downgrade as it worked ok in 1.1.
----a bit later----
Try the files in puppy-reference, Download.avi polvec1.mov, both fail with mplayer but play with ffplay, however I ripped a dvd to my lappy hd and converted it to avi and mov with ffmpeg, both play fine in mplayer

That's correct - ffplay indeed works... So it's more twisted than I thought.01micko wrote:Interesting, but I disagree.SFR wrote:Hi Mick

I think because syntax for the output of -formats and -codecs is different (note, now using ffmpeg-2.0 because of mplayer issues).
I successfully converted a .wmv to .avi with woo-ff.
Thanks!

Thanks Mick, no more problems with new ffmpeg+Mplayer+wmv.
And thanks so much Shinobar that you're still maintaining FFConvert <- I really love it!
Mick, ^ do you refrer to a .wmv file? FFConvert in Slacko-5.5 also won't convert X->.wmv however .wmv -> X (.avi) worked for me (the test file was M$'s "Wildlife.wmv" found in '/Users/Public/Videos/Sample Videos').
But I still have problems with some presets...
Methinks it's becase 'ffmpeg -codecs' displays some encoders, that most likely can be actually used, but they aren't listed in the "main" column.
Old ffmpeg:
New ffmpeg:
So, FFConvert won't include libmp3lame as allowed encoder, just mp3, whereas presets use 'libmp3lame').
I guess when we include all those "detached" encoders onto the list, most (all?) of presets will start working correctly.
Here's what seems to give positive results. Added right after those two lines rectified by Shino:
(sorry for ugly code - this is only to test if this method works)
@Shinobar: a small request for adding something like
to <tree...> in 'Preset' tab to enlarge lists' height (see screenshots).
I'd be grateful.
