Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.4.12 with 3.4.2 kernel.
NFS
re: NFS
Hi pemasu,
I went back and loaded your earlier Polarpups
up to Polarpup 003 NFS works fine.
Polarpup 004 (and 005) fail with the same problem as later builds.
Maybe you know what changed about this time?
thanks
DC

a little bit of knowledge and I'm dangerous
EDIT. Polarpup-003 and 005 has the same kernel. Nfs section has been compiled the same way. Of course there has been changes in the build. Both have been created by using the latest woof at the build time so there has been some changes through the woof build. Otherwise...I really dont know. I dont have the woof platforms anymore which I used to build them. Due to the restricted hdd space. Now I have external 1 Tb usb hdd but I didnt have it at Polarpup time.
I have now created 5.X.3.2.14 with kernel 3.2.14. It has aufs3 and aufs3-util from latest commits. I have used latest woof2 and Barry K today uploaded the updated shared-mime-info and I was able to create woof build using it. It had some improvements for initrd.gz and internationalization.
This build has the improved PPM, probepart recognizes DVD movies and other DVD - udf formats much better, glib has been patched, all the recent fixes through my threads. This feels snappy...I compiled kernel with core 2 and up optimization. I dont know if full install has usb mouse detection ok, that is the next thing to test.
I will upload this soon. I just have to update one script and I am gonna woof build this once again. But this looks good.

sfs_load-1.9.1
mikeslr and jemimah report the the sfs_load hangs under recent 3.2.x kernels.
I confirmed and released sfs_load-1.9.1. Please test the new release if you've got trouble with the sfs_load.

Thanks Shinobar. I use Jemimah's patched version of sfs_load in 5.X.3.2.14. I have been in communication with Jemimah of sfs_load problem and kernel crash risk when loading-unloading several times. That and the solution lead to the post in sfs_load thread...and the tests in Saluki thread.
First we thought it was aufs3 version problem but it soon seemed not to be the case.
I havent managed to crash kernel or sfs_load in 5.X.3.2.14 with several google-chrome.sfs loading-unloading cycle. But good to have your updated version for next release and it is good update for other Dpup Exprimo versions. Recommendated update in fact. Thanks !!

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.14 with cpu 2 and up optimization
Working great with my normal software (plus latest Nvidia 295.33) on my desktop with intel i7 processor. Will test laptop later.
It appears to be the fastest yet.
Thanks,
Jim

sfs_load
Jemimah's patch nicely avoids the kernel crash. But i found the sfs_load-1.3, due to its another bug, consumes the loop devices when we load/unload multiple sfs's.pemasu wrote:I havent managed to crash kernel or sfs_load in 5.X.3.2.14 with several google-chrome.sfs loading-unloading cycle.

Also works great on my laptop with intel i7 processor, although I was lazy and just updated my save file versus a fresh install on the desktop. It's very fast.
Thanks,
Jim

I have reuploaded Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.14. Sfs_load has been updated to the Shinobar`s latest. That is the main fix. Pburn updated to the latest. I also noticed the wrong suffix in /lib/modules/3.2.14-ski... not the meant -dpup. Fixed also. I used kernel builder script from the saluki 3.2.13-pae and forgot to change that suffix in script. I just changed the package name suffix...lol. One fine tuning to the e17 so that Lxterminal is shown in ibar.
Otherwise the same as original. Overall...I recommend to use this version. I am Sorry...to those whom have already downloaded the first version.

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.2.14 with cpu 2 and up optimization
Something happened with the reuploaded version. Now, the usb logitech receiver for the wireless mouse has to be removed and reinserted in order to work after reboot.. I just used the same save file that had been generated with a fresh installation of the original upload. It had one other problem, the Nividia driver was trashed and had to be reinstalled. Now, except for the mouse problem, everything appears to be working properly.
I will try it without a save file and report back if there is any change.
EDIT: New save file does not have the mouse problem reported above.
