[SOLVED] No flash working at all

#1 Post by mickee »

very odd. I goto youtube in any browser and the "Tube" window is just black. If I right click on the video, it says video not loaded and about Adobe Flash 10.

I have read alot but nothing that stops all flash from working.

Note: I do not have a flash disabler plugin at all either.

Any help will be appreciated. :D

I had same situation with Firefox. I fixed my problem by updating firefox shockwave flash.
This topic will help you to do that:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=72557
What I did was a little bit different.
I downloaded http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/fl ... 386.tar.gz
I copied kcm_adobe_flash_player.so and libflashplayer.so from the archive in:
/lib/firefox/plugins
and in:
/usr/lib/kde3
And I restarted Firefox.

From Tools-->Add-ons-->Plugins you will see if the renewing of shockwave flash is done.

Mickee- these conditions with a copy of libflashplayer.so in the appropriate *plugin* folders?

Make sure there's no Pup Advert Blocker enabled by accident either- a common oversight..

The Popup or adblocker is not enabled. Also tried with the firewall off. No dice.

Fixing the flash in Chromium.... will that fix flash in Firefox, Opera and Seamonkey? Seems that none of my browsers will run flash. If I right click on the black 'movie' I get "Movie not loaded" ---grayed out and "About Adobe Flash 10.0"

just curious.

Thanks!

Are you running with or without updated video drivers? Has Flash ever worked under your "five-two" full install?

window is just black
Had that in in Slacko (not with Youtube) but some major video supplier (forget which one)

type this in Slacko console to update Flash:

Code: Select all

curl -s 'http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/?installer=Flash_Player_11_for_other_Linux_(.tar.gz)_32-bit'|tr ' ' '\n'|grep "fpdownload"|tr -d ';'
Updating to the latest Flash might solve it as suggested

or go with HTML5 option where available

Mickee- take the advice given by Saintless. You need only extract libflashplayer.so from the pkg.

tried that. sorry forgot to report it. The biggest question I have is how all browsers reuse to display flash?

yes on a previous install. I'm not sure with this one. seemed to all start when I updated firefox to 8.0.

There is a copy of libflashplayer.so in the plugin dir for each browser

and I did extract libflashplayer.so and placed in the appropriate plugin folder..are those the questions?

Sounds like something's broken.. what, I don't know.

So with a previous install you ran updated video drivers.. this one you can't remember.

I'll ask again- has Flash ever worked under your current 5.2 install?

No updated drivers this install and the last. and flash hasn't worked since. This was a clean full install.

So it's not necessarily broken- it just hasn't worked. Open QuickPet and try a updated video driver.. I think 5.2 has the option.

worked booting from cd. I then ran the universal installer, and ran an upgrade to full install. worked. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
