Downloads for Puppy Linux http://shino.pos.to/linux/downloads.html
Hope it is ok to ask a naive question here.
I am writing from your pup431jp now and sites in Swedish is in swedish but youtube.com seems to sense that the browser is multilingual so it decides me is a Japan and chose Japanese texts on youtube.
which of the two files you link to will solve this or can I solve it without downloading them. I want all to be in English not swedish.
I tried to change to english everywhere but youtube seem to not agree.
Apart from that it works very good.

are you using 431JP, not 431JPqs0?
and without multilingual support?
anyway (no matter which you are using) with seamonkey, follow 'Edit --> Preferences', 'Navigator --> Language', and arrange the Languages in order preference.
I am using the standard? regular pup431jp I did not know about any other.
What is changed in the other version?
I follow your direction and that helped me a lot.
But I am too stupid to find out how to change the text under the Icons on the jwm a language me fail to read there too. All else works as expected.

the text under the Icons
Try Menu>Shutdown>Restart JWM please.nooby wrote:how to change the text under the Icons on the jwm a language me fail to read there too.
Thanks indeed that worked.
May I ask an offtopic question. The way Puppy save changes in frugal install. That works for both DVD and USB and HDD.
could one use same method for Linux Mint? I have Mint now running in frugal install om my HDD but it doesn't save anything.
Some say that is due to me only a live user and that if one create a new user and log out and then log in as the new user then the software allow the new user to save things.
sounds fantastic to me but could be true? Even if it only apply if one already have the "persistent" mode applied. How do I set it up so it knows it is supposed to save?
Some say that I should use something like this in the CLI Terminal Console
dir2lzm /mnt/live/memory/changes /mnt/sda1/Exton-Laptop/modules/config.lzm
Exton-Laptop was the name of his computer I guess. He did a remaster in Swedish of Linux Mint. that is the one I use. He know nothing about Frugal AFAIK I did ask him. But could be misunderstanding.
Another told about using dir2lmz too. There one did "activate" to get the saved info back before starting up X.
all this is way above my current understanding.
My take is this. Puppy has saved in frugal install on HDD now for many years and I know nobody saying that destroyed their windows from starting so it seems safe enough for me.
So if puppy can do this why can not Linux mint use same code in cli?
I only have to find what to do to activate it. Maybe this dir2lmz is one safe method?

USB on persistent mode
nobody, If I understood correctly you have a live USB with MINT which in turn is based on Ubuntu, so maybe the Live USB on persistent mode might help you.

Yes thanks. I am not on that level yet.
But I have skipped Mint now and use SuperOS instead. Mint looks better but Super has all the Bling bling.
But we have to talk about this in pm or another thread because it is about Pup-431JP here.
Which is a good puppy. I don't want to derail his thread. No offense intended.
You can reach me through PM if your into frugal install. I have four puppies and Ubuntu together. and an ubuntu in wubi too.

I always wanted something nicely support Korean letters(Hangul) but even UPup-cjk nor other scim added Puppy version never supported file names in Korean.
I even tried oenoffice Korean version. Menu was Korean(nice) but saved name became ??????.doc.
I added this pup-431JPqs0.iso (Quickset version) Blender.
Works like charm.
Hontoni uresi i. Arigato.

shinobar, thanks indeed. Very much appreciated. Now when I set priority it show English searches too instead of Japanese.
Yo forgot to make the terminal what you name console to be in English when one shit by restarting the jwm. Everything else seems ok.
Your puppy are among the few that do Blinky from scratch. Most puppy has to be set up each time using Connect while yours just works.
Have you considered to use ordinary Firefox instead of Seamonkey?
I guess most users want to ahve the regualr standard FF instead of something else. Or they want Opera or Chrome/Iron instead of FF
Very few would want Seamonkey if they are not used to that one due to being a long time puppy user?
Not me doing any criticism at all. Just me wondering over priority and what people expect. Your puppy are one of the best there is so a FF would make it even better.
But maybe a bit bigger? How much bigger?

There seems to be some things I would like to mention.
1) The boot screen is kind of too crowded.
2) I can read Japanese but the newer all languages or the 431JPsq version has some strange things about desktop icon names. It used to be changed automatically but this time, it's still Japanese.
After I changed all the desktop icon names and added Blander sfs, I saw Japanese names again after reboot.
3) You did great job making everything Japanese. I have no problem with that but my other friends from Korea and China wouldn't like that.
Any way to make it a little more local?
4) Most importantly, I believe it's my faulty computer but I coudn't select unetbootin which has puppy at the bottom in the menu.
I reinstalled but the problem stays.
I had to reboot XP. (OH HELL NO I HATE XP...)
Is this my computer or anything to do with the new change?

Hello shinobar
Although I am mono-lingual , this SFS seems to work just fine in Lucid Puppy 5.
I did have a problem with my screen resolution though in the first setup.
I am testing French, not that I can speak French but I have been working with some of the guys localising Quickpet, a new program in Puppy , and French is one of the languages working with it so far.
Thanks for this.
Cheers
Mick

conflict with pre-installed Chinese support?
What happens if you load lang-support-all.sfs on a Puppy 4.3.1 system that already has Chinese display support installed?
Is there a danger of corruption?
