Limewire like program?

#1 Post by walter90 »

I was wondering if there is a Limewire like program for puppy?
I have an HP pavillion with no hard drive running off a 2 gig flashdrive.
I know limewire is a resource hog so I'd like something a little easier on my system.

Thanks!

There's Tranmission which is a reasonable torrent downloader or ptorrent which is a command line torrent downloader, not so easy. Not sure about about straightforward p2p though. Have you tried google?

Try Azureus. Needs Java, IIRC. I usually just use the commandline program ctorrent because I rarely download things via torrents and that's what's installed on my system (I don't remember if it came with Puppy or if I added it). It's pretty easy - I just download the .torrrent file and then run ctorrent file.torrent

Perhaps you want to download music rather that just deal with torrents? If so icewire is a linux equivalent to limewire, which I know works under Ubuntu. I haven't tried it with Puppy though.

Thanks mike. That sounds like what I want. I'm having problems downloading it though. Can someone please post it here?

Thanks.

try the above...it should work as is once extracted.
There is a gui but as is can be run through a web interface at
http://localhost:4080/

There are a lot of options so takes a little getting used to

Thanks for the quick reply. The computer I am on right now blocks sites like sourceforge and cnet and ones like that. I can go to the site but not download anything.
If you could post the file that would be great but if not I'll get it when I can. Thanks again.
