I'm gradually weaning off P'shop and getting the hang of the Gimp....Ttuuxxx posted a great tutorial link and CatDude's given some clues, so i guess i might get there in the end and it is a lot of fun trying...

I found it helpful to search around for tutorials, find some really intricate ones that you were sure to screw up and miss a few steps, get it really wrong about 200 times but learn as you go.russoodle wrote:Sure looks like you're having fun there, puppyluvr....they're downright cute....of course, it helps if they're bluepuppyluvr wrote: 5 minutes with the Gimp..Man is this fun!!

...I find that after going through that process now it is just a question of what I want to do with gimp, rather than whether I can do it or not...
...but that process may be just me...

Puppyluvr,
That's a lovely creation for Upup!
I'll be back onto working on Upup soon, and your image would be great for it I reckon.
I've just made a note to myself: Puppy needs to be able to lope the bottom and/or top off an image if it is widescreen, so it will display in either type of screen with the right proportions. Yes, that is probably do-able, I'll think about it.

Yes, it would make a great background, but Canonical have their ubuntu logo registered as a trademark.

I do hope you pick something modern-looking (and not grey!) for Upup please Barry

And there's lots of nifty tutorials out there too, i've discovered, so Gimp-Gurgler, here i come!I found it helpful to search around for tutorials, find some really intricate ones that you were sure to screw up and miss a few steps, get it really wrong about 200 times but learn as you go.

Hello,
Yea, Rob is right, use of the logo with any color changes, or in combination with another logo, requires permission...Strangely enough, it says use in monochrome for a desktop background is acceptable....But not combined with the Puppy logo..But for non commercial use about all they can do is say "Stop it"..LOL..
I guess I could ask permission...Certainly they are aware of Woof...
A lot of bologna for a background pic...

i created it myself from scratch (with the exception of the smiley puppy face).

All the best

Hi
I am getting bored waiting for the MotoGP to come on,
so decided to have a play with GIMP (highly recommended for killing time )
final-frontier-normal.jpg = 1280x1024 = 506k
final-frontier-wide.jpg = 1680x1050 = 818k
