To answer my own question, I've just downloaded ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS, put it on a pen-drive and run the pc from it. The file structure of /usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups is there, no sign of x86_64-linux-gnu bit. Seems it's an invention of Easy0.4. Also it isn't in Easy0.3 either. For what it's worth. Terry

Hi mikeslr, I think the point was that what i tried successfully in Quirky Xerus64 8.3, didn't work in Easy0.4. The two look to be structurally the same with s.sfs and both built from ubuntu binaries. I just wanted a working printer and scanner and with no access to a standard linux file system ie /...

Eventually managed to get Easy 0.4 to run frugally on my MrChromebox.tech modified hp chromebox using external drive (essentially now a dual boot chromebox/pc but with messy bootup ctl-L esc 2), by following Barry's instructions to edit BOOT_SPECS file. Tried to install RCRSN51's hplip_print_fd600_3...

hmmm... I've found that the clock.bac and gears.bac programs in /usr/share/Bacon/ work fine with a small alteration to the INCLUDES directory!! So, I'll follow sunburnt's advice and address this as a programming problem and NOT a problem with Wary and Racy 5.2.2 at all. Sorry for any misleading impr...

Hi Lobster,
The version in Racy 5.2.2 is version1 build 23, so is up-to-date with the reference you gave. Thanks for the thought.
I've tried changing a few things around but with no success.
However, I live in hope.

Thank you Barry for your reply. However, both Wary and Racy 5.2.2 appear to have the line you suggest. Wary 5.1.3 has CONST HUG_lib$ = "./hug.so". Also, Wary 5.1.3 has two versions of hug.so one in /usr/lib/ and one in /usr/share/BaCon/ , and they are different sizes. I'm afraid sorting th...

Problem programming in BaCon in Racy 5.2.2

I'm trying to learn to program in BaCon. I've downloaded Racy 5.2.2 and it's devx. Following Barry's article, I've managed to get the first non-windows program to compile and run OK. It prints out some variables. Moving on to "My first Window" program, when I try to run it, it just returns...

Wary Puppy 5.2.2 Problems with Bacon

I normally use Puppy 4.3.1 but thought I'd like to try some programming in BaCon, so downloaded Wary 5.2.2 and Racy 5.2.2 but unable to get anything to run that uses GTK in either, even Barry's simple empty window prog. The non-windows stuff works OK. Went back to Wary 5.1.3 which extolled the virtu...

Browser snaps off, both SeaMonkey & Firefox

This happens to me too, although it may be this rubbish Elonex webbook I've bought. Running the browser through a terminal results in:- several Flash Player warnings followed by /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.11/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:9298 Floating point exception on "$prog" ${1+"$@"} ...

Precord

Can I make a plea to whoever writes an audio recording gui to incorporate facilities for external audio cards eg Sound Blaster MP3+ USB, for those who only have a mic in socket on their computer. I refer to my HOWTO for details but this is only for CLI usage. My programing skills leave a lot to be d...

Freebasic problem in Puppy 4 Dingo

Further to my post yesterday about missing icons when running glade on the thin client m/c running from memory stick :- I've shutdown and taken memory stick off the thin client m/c and booted my desktop m/c from the memory stick and the glade icons display OK. So, I put the memory stick back on the ...

FreeBasic problem in Puppy 4 Dingo

OK, I'll answer my own query. Glade2bas doesn't work as is. I've tried it on a 3rd newly installed system. I googled for glade2bas and found a freebasic forum site with a "Christmas gift from haegartheroot", where he describes his prog and a download site. So, go and download www.siebke.co...

Howto use Sound Blaster MP3+ with puppy linux

Using Sound Blaster MP3+ ( Now called Sound Blaster Connect) with Puppy Linux. Intro - A little while ago I bought an MP3+ because my computer only had a MIC input for recording. It took me ages of googling and looking around forums to find all these bits - I've just tried to put them together. 1) P...

Module ath-pci appears to be missing, so can't get wireless networking going. Otherwise looks good so far on my Acer 2423WXMI laptop.

Sweep bug

1) I've just upgraded to 3.01 Final and found myself with the self same Real playback problem - missing cook.so as posted previously. This time I got rid of my current pup_save file and problem went away. So obviously my pup_save was he problem, NOT puppy 3.01. However, 2) I was trying to record fro...

PaulBX1 was having trouble, as was I, getting output from BBC Real broadcasts. Following advice in Multimedia Howto, I visited :- /root/.gxine/config and altered the line :- decoder.external.real_codecs_path:/usr/lib/win32 to :- decoder.external.real_codecs_path:/usr/lib/codecs This seems to do the ...
