ideas
Talking ideas: Window Manager: I think the fvwm-crystal window manager is a nice prog. Uses ROX, etc., so not so unfamiliar + has some nice optics + very light weight & fast. For a change. Has somebody got some experience with this WM? Music score: My professional life kept me away from my favor...

cb88: of course, you are right in every point. :D Let's leave it there. Your downloads now work flawlessly! Thanks a lot. Will have a look at it. I will now concentrate on making music, and submit some ogg/mp3 files. IF (somebody likes that stuff) AND (we really run into size issues after getting XF...

music
I read something of music during setup. If this is still a valid option, I could compose and produce some tracks to select from. 3 questions regarding the music file though: length(sec.) ? / size(kB/MB) ? format (ogg/wav/other) ? Any restrictions/advice from the architects at this stage, or can I ma...

support
Hi there, I could support with testing-testing-testing (old and new machines), small programs (bash, basic), and music/sound design. I visited the above links to the wiki but found them still empty (mostly). In order to avoid posting errors, I prefer to ask the question right here: Where can I apply...

SFS files
Same problem. Just realised that "fixmenus" from a terminal produces no change.

Issue with soundcard
There is something strange going on with the soundcard part. I am testing RC3a. This problem did not exist in RC1. After a "normal" installation" to HD of PL STD, no sound. See also my post here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=16921&sid=512e4bfa7c75c19776b2d058d8...

Same Issue
Hi there, I experience the same issue. With RC1, everything was fine. Between RC1 and RC2, something must have happened to ALSA. And the issue is still valid in RC3. Description: - I have a Yamaha DS-1 sound chip onboard. Usually, Puppy Linux would recognise it on the fly, that changed since 2.14 I ...

happy
Tempestuous,
Thank you very much for the advice above!
Indeed, "puppy ide1=0x180 nopcmcia" instead of "ide2=.." does the magic and has brought PL2.14/2.15 alpha back on my favourite old computer again (PCG-SR1K, 64MB).
Kind regards
Rudy

Approaching New Year 2006...
... I still have a wish: Puppy booting again from an external (PCMCIA) CD-ROM most subnotebooks and especially my Vaio SR1K uses, like in the old days, when Puppy 1.0.8 ruled, still under 70MB and a superb distro. I will put it on my wish list... is it really so hard to deliver?

Re: Puppy2 pcmcia boot does not work
I did try DSL and Knoppix out of interest, and neither of those would boot from the cd rom...........
Hi Tim, The magic word to boot Knoppix and its derivates in this case is a boot parameter: "ide2=0x180 nopcmcia". (yes, nopcmcia...) I do not know why, found this a long tim...

SCSI Revision Version 1 freezes PL
Hello Andreas. I encountered the same problem with 1.0.7 (live and installed) on a Tecra A4 with 1GB RAM. During the boot process, the OS runs as fast as always but upon arriving at SCSI Subsystem Driver Revision 1 it freezes... for 20 to 40 seconds. Then, suddenly, it awakens and goes on installing...

Puppy Linux works fine on 64 MB Sony Vaio
Hello. Just to say that the Puppy Linux versions I've tested (started with 1.0.4, now using 2.15 CE) work perfectly out-of-the-box on the following machines: VAIO PCG-K115S (2.8 GHZ, P4, 512 MB RAM) VAIO PCG-SR1K ( P3 Coppermine, 64 MB RAM, external CD-ROM) After testing Puppy Linux has been install...

Great Job
Puppy boots within 15 seconds, does all i want, works stable and shuts down in 6 seconds. It now lives on a 5.6 GB partition, formely inhabited by a one of the big ones which never really worked... I tried lots of distributions (as every new linux fan like me does, i guess). I decided to stay with P...
