@rameshiyer This shrinking desktop is on your RPi? That uses hdmi output correct? Is it really 640x480 (big grainy icons) or is it just miniaturized (maybe refresh rate issue)? What monitor? I thought even 640x480 on lcd's filled the screen (big BIG grainy icons). Does hdmi even do 640x480? I though...

I installed Easy 0.9.6 to USB and it worked fine. I upgraded my hd install of Easy and for the second upgrade in a row it did not cleanly boot. It refused to boot to X. Boots to console fine, I ran xorgwizard and tried a number of options but still no X screen. I tried renaming the .sessions dir and...

Hi Antipodal, Gnumeric is still part of Xenialpup 7.5. There is a gnumeric coomandline utility ssconvert that will convert spreadsheet files to different formats. I copied the following to Easy 0.9.5 and it runs.I believe it will convert .gnumeric to .xls or .ods but I haven't tried yet. /usr/bin/ss...

@rufwoof I just checked and I have the same issue with mc. In a terminal in X the keys all work fine. In a console the first five Fn keys do nothing. Well F1 in terminal calls up an error about missing help file but that is common. I think it's a keymapping error. When I type F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 at the c...

Did you delete the .session folder? It is normally hidden and it contains all the customisations and additions you've made to the OS. I deleted the relevant folders from 0.9.4 (actually I just moved them to a temporary location) and got Easy 0.9.5 to boot from hd but I cannot get any containers to r...

So I installed easy 0.9.5 to a usb and it is working fine. Then I upgraded the easy 0.9.4 on my hd and it is not booting X. It seems to not be running dbus from the messages I am getting. Maybe too many changes to upgrade. I will continue testing from usb for now. Currently running firefox in a sepa...

Is it still possible to create containers? I'm thinking eg. of the case where you would want online banking to be in a completely separate container from everything else you do online. Refresh that container every time you use it and no worries about other online sessions having access to your banki...

Re: browser memory usage. The memory tests were done in windows, not linux. I started windows (V7). I started the resource manager, which displays used RAM at the bottom of its window. I let the computer settle until RAM was not changing. I recorded that value and started a browser (each browser was...

@linuxcbon Speed is not the only criterion when choosing your browser. I NEVER use firefox anymore on Windows for example. Why, you ask? I have done memory use tests and Firefox is the biggest memory hog of the 10-12 browsers I tested. I didn't test chrome because I philosophically refuse to use a b...

I set up a container for firefox. I copied the etc/asound.conf file from the sakura container where sound works to the firefox container/ Now sound works in the firefox container. I made a snapshot of the container to revert back to initial state when required. Now I am surfing happily in a containe...

I am currently using firefox in the shell container, which I used the network wizard to configure my sound card in. Now I have sound in both firefox and seamonkey within this container. Don't know yet how to configure it in the seamonkey container. Maybe try editing the container config file. I inst...

I have a suspicion that the container is trying to use the HDMI sound output instead of the PCI sound output. I do remember having to specify that on inital setting up something but I can't remember if it was Easy or one of the puppies or maybe something else entirely. When back home I will see what...

If sound worked in the container I would just use that but it doesn't and I can't sort out why. Works fine when run outside container. My thinking was to run outside container for such things as streaming music and inside container for such things as banking. But if the container one can access my b...
