I understand that software is never done. I wait for the next SeaMonkey update(s). (Or better said: The next Puppy Precise updates.) In the meantime I rely on Opera.

Hi. Excuse me I'm still pretty new to Puppy Linux and I'm not sure if I open safe-mode correctly. Here's what I did: I clicked on the desktop on "console" and in the terminal window typed in " seamonkey -safe-mode ". Seamonkey started and I went to GameFAQs but still no success. ...

I have tested it with SeaMonkey 2.17.1 (Precise 5.6.1) and SeaMonkey 2.19 (Precise 5.7.1). In both browser-versions the symbols are not shown. The only two add-ins that I have installed are: a) a german language pack b) Quick Translator 1.0 Of course there are more add-ins. I mean the ones that came...

I'm not sure if this helps in your case. I don't use Slack.

In Precise you can drag & drop the 'magnet link' to Transmission and then it is added to the download list.

Precise 5.7.1: SeaMonkey - Missing elements on website

Precise 5.7.1 / Retro When I visit the following website: http://www.gamefaqs.com/arcade/584003-mario-bros/faqs with SeaMonkey there are some symbols missing. For example left of the FAQ should be a filled circle and left of FAQ/Walkthrough should be a half-filled circle, in the search field should...

AbiWord 2.9.4: Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right doesn't work

I use Puppy Precise 2.7.1 with AbiWord 2.9.4 and I have the following problem: In most text editors and word processors that I know (for example MSWord, Leafpad, Geaney etc.) the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+{Cursor Left} or Ctrl+Shift+{Cursor Right) is used for word left/right extension. That means...

Additionally to what is written above: The Standard ISO is for computers with a PAE compatible processor while the Retro version runs with non-PAE compatible processors like Intel Celeron M. If you're not sure what PAE is, there is a Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_E...

^ Yes, I guess so too. But honestly I don't want to go risk updating the firmware and having it brick. The most important feature of the drive is that it can read all kinds of media. And it can even write CD-R(W). That's not to be sneezed at. For the DVD-R backup-thing I'll find another solution. I ...

No. I never metioned the brands. The blank DVD-R are from "Real". (This is a department store chain in germany and they have their own label. Not sure if they are only in germany.) The DVD-Drive is an internal drive in a notebook. It's a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L1300 notebook. Maybe they're ...

@Semme: Basically this is a good idea. But to be honest, I'm not going to move heaven and earth to find out why the DVD-Rs don't work on that particular computer. I think I can live with it. Nonetheless... thanks for your ideas. :-)

I have 512MB RAM (you asked that already on page#134). The following observations speak against the RAM theory: - I can burn such large files to CD-RW with no problems. - I tried to burn two very small files (a *.txt and a *.bmp with 4KB or so) which fails with the same error messages - the writing ...

I did two tests (with a fresh DVD-R in the drive): with burniso2cd I tried to burn an ISO-file with burniso2cd. This fails with no messages. The DVD drive does nothing and the program asks if it should verify the disc. No data is written on the DVD. with PBurn I tried to burn the same ISO with (and...

Buying an USB stick would be an alternative. I take this into consideration. But it would really interest me why PBurn thinks that the "media is not formatted or unsupported" when I try to burn a DVD-R. It seems that PBurn can only handle CD-R and CD-RW media on my computer. Since I don't ...

@Jasper: I don't have any CD-RWs and I only have a 1GB memory stick that could only store a single save-file (my save-files are 512MB). On a multisession DVD-R, on the other hand, I could store at least 8 save-files. @rcrsn51: Huh? You want to suggest something? Edit: Sorry, I meant "I don't ha...

@rcrsn51: Yes, but that would mean that I would loose a precious DVD-R. I used a CD-RW because I can erase it afterwards. I am very frugal.

@Jasper: Yes, I want to make backups of my save-files to a DVD-R. If I accidentaly lose my savefiles I can copy them back from the DVD to the harddisk. That's all. -- Unfortunately I cannot test putting the files to a DVD because that is exactly what fails.

@zigbert: I'm not experienced in dealing with Linux (=beginner). I don't know what terms like cdrtools-2 or pBurn-3 mean. All I know is that I use Puppy Precise 5.6.1 / PBurn 3.7.18 (and I also tried burning with Precise 5.4.3 / PBurn 3.7.5 - but this fails too with the exact same log file). The DVD...
