It is full install. What you suggest is not right. Since there is a button in that menu that asks you to point to .sfs files to load at boot, it should be able to find these files. Moreover, it should allow you to navigate to these files, or at least give a directory or something. That application c...

puppy 4.3.1 devx file
Hi all, I successfully installed puppy in my VirtualBox. Now I would like to install the devx_431.sfs. I copied it in /mnt/home/. I also copied it as /mnt/home/pup_devx_431.sfs. Then I went in the Setup bootup something. I press the button that says: Install more .sfs files at boot up. And it gives ...

I did that and it did not work. I mean got the 2 files directly from Intel. the 5000-2 file is directly from Intel. It is there in /lib/firmware and stil .... #modprobe iwlagn doesn't work. I mean the module is loaded but neither #dmesg | grep firmware nor #ifconfig -a show something interesting! I ...
1) Make a new fdsave file. 2) Install the .deb package of firmware. Don't make a tarball and put in /lib/modules/all-firmware. 3) reboot
I apologize but I think that step 2 is not clear. You say,
Don't make a tarball and put in /lib/modules/all-firmware.
Put which? The...

dear friend Kirk, I copied from my Debian-lenny installation /lib/firmware everything on a directory where I extracted the .deb package you suggested. Basically only one file was different. This was the file: iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode So, I extracted everything from the .deb file to a directory, then I c...

Hi there, I did as you instructed me to do so. I installed this package and rebooted. On the next reboot the firmware was there, in /lib/firmware but the module is not loaded. I load the module manually and again I see the same thing. nothing. Zero. I mean that keeping the firmwares in /lib/firmware...

FatDog2 alpha1 64bit: Problems with intel 5300 agn wireless
Dear all, One million thanks is not enough for your 64bit Puppy efforts. I decided to join the battle at least as a tester and report back. I have an Intel 5300 agn wireless driver. Everything works fine with any other Linux distribution (Debian Lenny, Sabayon 4.2 etc.). The module loaded in the dis...

How to add user accounts to Puppy?
Dear Puppy community, I like puppy I use it and really love it. I would be much happier however, if I was able to install some user accounts and had a login screen so that I could loging as a user and not as root. Why? Because I have a 64bit Desktop with 8GB of RAM and there I cannot use puppy since...

My laptop has 4GB RAM and 4GB is becoming a standard. In the next couple of ye...

Puppy add users and login in manager
Hello users,
one of the problems I have with puppy, is that it doesn't have a login manager and doesn't support users. I do not think that something like that would increase its size too much. Is it possible to add a login manager to puppy and users?
Thanks in advance ...
the reason no one is working on it is a combination of cost vs. benefit and supply (developers) vs demand (users that want it).
You will never know until you do it. I do not use Puppy. But if I had a 64bit Puppy version I would get into the trouble to master it. Why? Because I would l...

That would be a good idea. But I would also like if possible a Puppy which supports several users and not only one root user. Is something like that possible? Apart from that, are there any community plans of supporting 64 bit Puppies? New systems are all 4GB RAM and 64bit. Although there is enough ...
if it is a frugal install the last loaded sfs will take precedence (for instance if the sfs has a patch it will be applied - the installed version is still in ram as part of pupXXX.sfs but is overridden)- note that sfs files do not work like this in a full HD install (they have to be directly...

SUSPEND to RAM
Hi guys. Suspend to RAM is a great feature both for laptops and desktops. Many Distros deal with it successfuly. Is it possible in puppy though? Anybody ever succeeded?
