I'm considering to get an Eee, the 4G Surf model w/o the camera. Of crucial importance is to have bilingual keyboard (english/greek). On my puppies this is done adding a couple of lines in the .xinitrc .... Could someone with an EeePC please check if this works properly with the embedded keyboard? ...

Re: Research Machines and the Eeepc

Exactly how many places are there in the US where it isn't safe to collect your post. It happened to me once. I got attacked by two dogs while getting my mail. It was about the first time in a week that I didn't have a gun with me. Go figure. I ran into a bear once without a gun while checking the ...

I have been curious about those and wanting to try one. Let me know how Pupeee does on it.

Interesting, I just timed Pupeee booting from a frugal install off of the internal SSD and a 128MB pup_save file. Total time from the push of the button to the working desktop was 48 seconds. It felt like it took longer to boot the kernel than it did to load Pupeee. I'm not sure what all this means,...

Re: sd usb question

Much to my surprise I am leaving this PuppySpeak facility on whilst using Pupeee http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=182613#182613 :) I downloaded the needed files for JWMSpeak. It looks pretty small so it just may end up in the next Pupeee with an option in the Appearance section of t...

Xandros comes with limited voice recognition. How good is that when on? Can we do better? Any thoughts? Limited is a good description. It works about as well as the Mac OSX voice recognition. I could never get either one to work reliably. I don't know why a cell phone can have great voice recogniti...

Re: Some observations on PupeeeB4

One thing you may want to include in your new control panel application would be a way to easily change default applications for things like the browser and/or email client - One of the main things I like about the XFCE desktop is that ability to easily change/designate default programs. Good idea....

I agree. Let's just go ahead and do option 1 since it needs done anyways. I really don't like the sound of option 2. Option 3 could be a long term goal if you or I ever feel adventurous.

Okay I have been thinking about this and playing with some of my USB flash drives that have trash directories from Mac OSX. Here is what I'm thinking. When a user sends something to the trash, first check for any issues such as read only partitions/drives or NTFS formated partitions/drives. If it is...

I worked with the guys over at Rox for a while, but I got busy changing jobs and what-not. I'll have to check back and see what they came up with. I would just use murgaLua for the FLTK interface. Just test for murgaLua at the begining of the script. If it is there than use it. Otherwise use xmessag...

Well when I wrote the trash application originally, I intentionally did not put the trashed item in the drive that it came from. Mac OSX does this and it makes invisible .trash files on all your external drives, even your USB thumb drives. I have always found this annoying. It could be done pretty e...

Odd question- about how much SSD space does Pupeee take up in its current installation? It's about 120MB as a frugal install, plus whatever you choose as a size for the pup_save file. Oh, and another question? Does Pupeee have anything to actually tell you how much SSD space you have used and avail...

I decided to release the next Pupeee (beta 4) even though I am not done with a lot of things on my list. The auto mounter and many of the Control Panel tools are not done, but there were enough changes to warrant an update. See the first post for the download link. Skype is still installed but it is...
