ZFS module for FOSSApup64 (and a strange segfault)

Thanks 666phlib for this beautiful project, your pups are always the coolest :D Trying it right now on this old Intel Xeon workstation (Sandy Bridge based), and looks OK, but I get this segfault in dmesg: [ 81.981096] gsettings-data-[7884]: segfault at 48 ip 00007ff14b7a1930 sp 00007ffc238a5570 erro...

My little 2 cents: systemd is,in my point of view, a system-wide cancer. It mangles everything into a blob of obscure dependencies, even if it comes out with a kind-of neat interface. Upstart was messy, but still readable and "hackable" to some extent, this stuff (systemd) is plain intrusi...

Problems starting LVM2

I'm having a lot of trouble making LVM2 to work on the latest BionicPup64. I need it to test a not-yet-integrated, but interesting RedHat module named VDO (https://github.com/dm-vdo/kvdo) that provides block-level deduplication and compression via LZ4. I managed to compile and run the module and it ...

missing l2tp modules in kernel 4.19.23 from BionicPup64

-- EDIT: nevermind, I downloaded the kernel sources and compiled the l2tp module, works flawlessly. -- EDIT2: I got also the .deb wireguard packages for ubuntu bionic fromthe official repository. In can confirm they work as expected, after compiling the module (the source will be in /usr/src after i...

UpupBB 18.05+8 + OverlayFS init + kernel 4.17.10 + BTRFS

After a whole afternoon studying this (and other) threads on the subject, I managed to assemble (i.e. hack) a working upupbb 18.05+8 on an USB stick formatted with BTRFS. - I used the info provided in this thread to install upupBB 18.05+8 with overlayFS on a (ext4 formatted) USB stick. - I compiled ...

I've been using BTRFS for quite some time in my ubuntu setups, it has proven to be a really good "swiss knife" FS that includes advanced features, like RAID, snapshots, compression etc. I've been reading in the BTRFS wiki that with kernel 4.15: Overlayfs can now use btrfs as the lower file...

@MochiMoppel, thanks a million, using the tag

<Name>Navigator</Name>

did the trick, and my Firefox is now ... more beautiful :)

The <Class> statement did not work, I think I'm writing it wrong: can you please give me a working example?

I am aware of the fact that this answer does not give you a recipe, but some interaction may be done with wmctrl: https://linux.die.net/man/1/wmctrl Indeed: this command wmctrl -r Mozilla -b toggle, fullscreen toggles fullscreen mode correctly, but it's not exactly what was I was looking for. I wante...

Thanks, musher0, I think I'll "live with it" for the time being. I thought it was a trivial matter: after a lot of googling around I've found that browsers have become extremely complex beasts, sometimes difficult to tame. The subject of windows decorations came out in a lot of discussions...

Hello musher0. Your example works perfectly with xclock, but I can't make it work for firefox. I added: <Name>firefox</Name> <Option>notitle</Option> <Option>noborder</Option> <Option>nolist</Option> <Option>nopager</Option> in the <Group> section, but Firefox opens with the usual decorators. I've m...

Just for fun, I installed an old office 2007 enterprise from a DvD I had laying around, using the wine-portable package from mikesir (great job on that one!) on upupbb 18.05+3. After copying some fonts from the windows partition, everything I tested worked beautifully. I've been trying in the past u...

Samba version: 4.7.0 or 4.7.6+dfsg (upupbb 18.05+3)

I was trying to install winbind: the package manager warns me about a version difference about samba packages (see picture).

Is it safe to install the whole samba-4.7.6 package from repository ? Or should I get a 4.7.0-i686 winbind package ?

Thanks Moose. I've already tried the WINE road, but it's still too .. bumpy. I also find it quite difficult to integrate stuff correctly, but it's my problem I guess. Funny enough a "portable" version of Photoshop CS4 works flawlessly under WINE, but this little custom software does not. I...

A HUGE thanks to all Puppy community for this AWESOME work!

It's a couple of years I've got rid of Windows on my machines at the office. I've been using Ubuntu since version 9. It's been pretty cool for a while, felt good, got used to a Gnome desktop. After I while, at home, I discovered Puppy Linux for my nettop. Such an AMAZING piece of work, especially (b...

Wordpress problems

Thanks for this wonderful puppy, it was just what I needed for some web development I am planning. I intend to use wordpress, and the puppy has just what I need. The problem is, I really can't make it work on this puppy, and that kills me, because it works on my horrible WinXP+XAMPP. For the first (...
