Hi Pooklaroux, I'd think it should just automatically 'step down' so it's not in HD for someone who's on a low memory system, but whatever.... it showed for Linux it wants a minimum of 512mb of RAM and 128mb of video memory. ... Edit to above on facebook/ youtube: I just went back and clicked on th...

Just wanted to drop a line and tell you I have a friend running slaxer_pup on her HP Pavilion mx50, and it is soooo much better for her than Win ME. Successfully loaded her sound when several other distros wouldn't, and we were able to get online, no problem. Another happy new puppy user! Thanks for...

I just got locked up in SlaxerPup while using SeaMonkey to read yahoo news. So I rebooted with 4.2.1, and it was happy again By 4.2.1 do you mean PuppyLinux or SlaxPup? The SlaxerPup I have is version 4.1.2 -- the Offical Puppy version I have is 4.2.1. Oy very confusing. I am having some bios/boot ...

I'm not a new new newbie to Puppy or Linux, but I am always helping other people with their older computers, and one way I do that is by burning them a disk of Puppy, and getting their old PC to bark like a new one. I do email and blogs, and forums like this mainly. I don't personally do myspace, or...

I said I would post specs for my Thinkpad 600 -- here they are: It's yur basik Pent II Thinkpad 600 running just a hair below 300mhz. 158 mb ram. It has pcmcia slots, usb, a CD ROM -- and apparently also IR! And i think is has the CS4232 sound card. From the stickers on the case, it was running XP w...

Just a quick note while I am procrastinating on other things... I dl'd slaxerpup last night, and deleted all the old save files on the hard drive (they were so old I didn't remember what was actually unique about them, I've been booting with pfix-ram so long now, it didn't matter) and slaxerpup is s...

Re: Best Puppy for Thinkpad 600x
Dear pooklaroux: I have a Thinkpad 600e, 160 Ram, PCMIA wireless card,... The remaster program will generate an ISO you can transport elsewhere. What strikes your fancy? Aesthetics: Changing you're wallpaper gives your Puppy an entirely different feel. Desktop icons which you never (or no longer) u...

Someone in the forum once did a test ...was that speeds somewhere near the middle of the range that the disk or drive could handle worked the best. ...So I burned the disks at a fixed 16x and they worked fine... Puppy's Burniso2cd to burn them. That's never failed me. I'll pay attention to that -- ...

vitasam, I tried a few different things instead of the acpi=force option, ...One of them that I tried (acpi=force acpi_irq_balance <--both together) did result in getting it booted without the IRQ's 10 and 11 being disabled, ! I was able to boot 4.2.1 with pfix=ram and acpi=force, and I can say at ...

CiaW! I think I saw that discussion, I'll jump in there. But that being said -- Slaxer? Is that the same as SLAX? I have a live disk of that somewhere, it was one of the ones I initially tried on the TP 600, I don't remember if it booted or not, but even if it did, I think Puppy 3.0.1 gave me more f...

Okay, I have two systems available to burn disks on, one is an acer notebook running vista ( I haven't yet been able to boot any version of puppy successfully on that bad boy, and I am way disappointed) and the other is a mac mini running 10.5.7. The system I run puppy on is a Thinkpad 600. It is ca...

Best puppy or puplet for thinkpad 600?
Been running 4.1.1 retro recently, I use a usb sound card and a pcmcia wireless to get on the net. I am wondering what versions/puplets other thinkpad 600 users have found usable? I've had trouble getting some versions of puppy to boot. Before this, I was using a version of 3. Actually, I just reboo...

puppy can't connect to my new wireless router
also started using a wep password -- I never had before on our old 802.11 b wireless router...suddenly, the puppy can't get a wireless connection. It sees the network when it scans but it can't seem to connect. I'm using an orinoco wireless pcmcia card. Never had a problem before. Any idea what to t...
