not ISO

oui wrote:The download point in distrowatch seems to be wrong or not already include the ISO
This is a very different build, requiring Linux filesystem on flash media. But I added a short howto at puppylinux.org:

goal

Easy update is one of Barry's goals for Quirky, and pet format is being used, so at least for Quirky, the question has been answered.

EDIT: Should it be automatic or manual? Let the user decide.

A fresh install of Wordpress is at puppylinuxnews.org. [EDIT - It did not work, so back to the wiki for contributors.]

puppylinuxnews.org

Hmm, its url must be

puppylinuxnews.org

Probably a matter of cache (Wordpress says super-cache is available, so I should turn this feature off for now.)

news site

puppylinuxnews.org is linked to the top links of puppylinux.org. This news site has been misbehaving for sometime, and I guess server support is having difficulty with its ageing mysql version. I therefore used the server default install of wordpress, which you should see now. To comment about the s...

woof

woof4linux sounds good and is available.

woof is the building block, so it should be able to cover all its kid puppies.

non-woof but cousin puppies can still be featured there.

support a common puppy

A. To make it easy to the user public, we need to support a common puppy. My take is that a variety of slack*, Ubunt*, Deb*, etc won't cut it. B. Having "woof" as Puppy can be understood only by devs, so if the Puppy idea is "woof", then git will suffice to sustain Puppy (and the...

14th

Puppy is 14th and Simplicity Linux is 27th.

This suggests that people mentioning the importance of a distro's frequent releases are correct. It also suggests that a catchy linux name can get you somewhere.

If it gets higher, Simplicity will be a Puppy success story. :)

feedback

I guess this thread was inspired by the discussion of ttuuxxx's English puppy. Oldtimers here have a tendency to assume that posters know/observe the basic rules here, like. 1. Anyone can start a project; 2. As long as you do not force your project on people, you can happily move forward; 3. To move...

puppies

I recall that ttuuxxx was releasing "Puppies" that complement community versions.

"reborn" puppy might not suit people who'd think that this is because it's beed de*d.

"nooby puppy" is good for me.

Swiss language support

From my mail: Oct. 12, 2014 I should like to invite you, to make installation of SLACKO for Switzerland more comfortable. You recommend to use DE_CH for Swiss German keyboard layout. That does not work at all. It jumps to "de". In " /etc/X11/xorg.conf" under "Xkb Layout"...

My having to learn of some apparent problem with its UI in this roundabout way, without a basic courtesy of a bugreport, is what prompted my reaction. -= With best regards, Dmitry Groshev, maintainer of mtPaint =- Will gladly provide feedback to a mtPaint discussion - I've been a loyal user, but co...

which one?

Thanks for the updates, darry.

Some ISOs are labeled by XOrg number (7.5) while others by Puppy version (432) or SMP/nonSMP.

It will be less confusing if labeling is consistent (just a thought).

Re: server space

I'm sure there are others who are willing to donate cpu/server space to make a dynamic home page. I know I would. We can use puppylinux.info anytime for this - I mean, have the server ready, give me the DNS info and I will direct the domain to that server. (For puppylinux.com or puppylinux.org, you...
