will add more to the thread/post as testing continues, but xpad, firefox, Whitesnow's MyDropbox, libreoffice, hydrogen, wmctrl, xdotool all appear to be working well (have installed ocean and a few others but haven't gotten to them yet)....SFR's findandrun installed and works...xanad wrote:Thanks for all, Puppus Dogfellow.Puppus Dogfellow wrote:plan to have april up and running soon and will test.
for now, just mirrored.
thanks for your efforts, xanad (and yet again, don570).
Waiting for your test.
can't get aemenu to work and am wondering what's available for april/64 as far as dual monitor setups are concerned. if there's nothing, i have the devx installed...would the 32 bit zarfy work?
it's working exceptionally well so far. i have it on a 32gb SD card formatted (largely) f2fs and running from a usb2.0 socket--no lag, never notice any saving taking place--more testing to come, but i can see why you chose to run with this one.
_____
no go on the 32 bit zarfy, and i couldn't get the geany 1.24.1 plugins to compile (something about a .pc file...), but recoll 19.5
and its dependencies (can link the pieces, but pet making is still beyond me) were surprisingly easy to put together (i recall failing to get 117 and 118 together in precise).

I noticed that ocenaudio has a playback problem. Playback is faster than normal, a problem of pitch that I do not understand how to solve for now ...
- aemenu exist in 64bit for debian... but the first attempt quirky crashed
- confirmed, zafry don't work in 64bit.

the 1.9. I haven't tried yours yet (did in precise 5.5.--wasn't funtional/had almost entriely textless interface. i've since trashed/disabled the distro so can't test further), but i could if you like. i have some shortcuts already bound to the original fnr--is there a way i can rename your pet before it runs so it doesn't rename the other? thanks.step wrote:which version?Puppus Dogfellow wrote:....SFR's findandrun installed and works...

for 64bit aemenu (thanks to musher0)

further testing running from usb2:
ETP's chrome package is working really nicely. the Firefox ESR has crashed at least three times in twenty hours. it uses fewer resources but is less reliable and somewhat less snappy in my (april 64) experience.
You can download 1.10.5 from SFN's thread or you can simply copy-paste file findnrun from http://github.com/step-/find-n-run usr/bin/findnrun. Either way, rename the existing /usr/bin/findnrun on your system to findnrun-1.9 and put the new findnrun in /usr/bin/findnrun. Your shortcuts will use (test) the new one. Alternatively, just copy-paste the findnrun from github to an executable file of your liking and start it from the command line.

haven't been taking snapshots and just wiped out my system (wrong elf class on some libraries labeled _86_64--trying to get zarfy to work, thought i was just about to--last mistake paralyzed everything and removing the files manually (from another distro) didn't help...), but on the bright side i'll install yours first this time.step wrote:You can download 1.10.5 from SFN's thread or you can simply copy-paste file findnrun from http://github.com/step-/find-n-run usr/bin/findnrun. Find-n-Run now disponbile for Quirky64 with updated graphics. Replace /usr/bin/findnrun with the new (it should also work in FD).Puppus Dogfellow wrote: edit: 1.10.5 works fine in quirky64 but is missing the two right icons (not at the machine atm but exit and help i think...)

I'm curious to know why you didn't just take SFR's pet. It should work for April64 OOTB, I think.xanad wrote: -- Edit: findnrun-April64.pet (adapted to Quirky) now available.
What did you need to do to _adapt_ find-n-run for April64?
Indeed! Thanks.xanad wrote: Hi step,

Only a small change to the buttons 'About' and 'Exit' and changed the paths of app ... so simple works well. Ah, no desktop-shortcut, for now.step wrote: What did you need to do to _adapt_ find-n-run for April64?

@ Puppus
Remember that the paths of the libraries are different for rpm. You must manually extract the libraries and place them in /lib or /usr/lib ignoring lib64.

megasync--Quirky 7.0.4.1.-64bit
deb above works with the included rpm dep--should need nothing further than clicking both as if they were pets.
lucked out with that dependency--first item on first search result. rarely seems to work out that way.
rpms never have anything go to lib64? how would other programs that would expect the lib to be in that folder know where to find it? keep one in the original and symlink the other to the other lib folder?xanad wrote:Only a small change to the buttons 'About' and 'Exit' and changed the paths of app ... so simple works well. Good suggestion, I'll use a lot.
In a clean Quirky 7.0.4.1, missing these libs:
libcares.so.2 => not found
libQtDBus.so.4 => not found
libQtGui.so.4 => not found
libQtNetwork.so.4 => not found
libQtCore.so.4 => not found
libcrypto.so.1.0.0 (OPENSSL_1.0.0) => not found
libssl.so.1.0.0 (OPENSSL_1.0.1) => not found
libssl.so.1.0.0 (OPENSSL_1.0.0) => not found
probably the libs had been installed by some program installed previously.
now is repacked: megasync_14.04_amd64-April64.pet
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
requires QT4_amd64-April64.pet available in main page (cat: utility)
the paths of libraries quirky64 differ from debian (ubuntu) and rpm

libcares.so.2 i added from an rpm warehouse of sorts. the rest must've come from your qt4 pet, --well, i've installed almost everything in this thread i think...xanad wrote:megasync_14.04_amd64Puppus Dogfellow wrote: deb above works with the included rpm dep--should need nothing further than clicking both as if they were pets.

sorry, but this is even more of a mess than the megasync package:
q714-recoll-19.5-kit.tar.xz[antiword_0.37-8.pet, Search-Xapian-1.2.21.0.tar.gz_extracted, catdoc-0.94.2-i486.pet, unrtf-0.21.0-i486.pet, ExifTool-8.66.pet, xapian-bindings-1.2.21.tar.xz_extracted, instructions, xapian-core-1.2.21.tar.xz_extracted, libjpeg8-8.0.2-3.1.x86_64., xapian-omega-1.2.21.tar.xz_extracted, recoll-1.19.5-1.2.lk.x86_64.](not quite a pet, but more convenient than having to track down the pieces yourself. appears to work though it says it doesn't have helper programs that are clearly helping it out (it searches through things it wouldn't be able to if the error messages were actually correct).
I downloaded your .pet. Since my github project places findnrun in /usr/bin - exactly like your .pet does - I'm guessing you needed to change SFR's Find'N'Run .pet - and not my find-n-run package from github. OK, now I understand what you did!xanad wrote:Only a small change to the buttons 'About' and 'Exit' and changed the paths of app ... so simple works well. As regards fixing icons, that issue is resolved in http://github.com/step-/find-n-run/issues/4. Just be aware that by changing the icons to "use-stock", as you did, you do get slightly larger icons. And there will be more gtkdialog icon incompatibilities between Fatdog64 and April64. A better solution would be to patch gtk2 the way SFR did for Fatdog64. It's all referenced in the github issue #4 discussion.

ok, you're right, we are on the same paths. Glad we thought the same way. In fact I started from version located in /usr/local/app to move it to /usr/bin. As you did. find-n-run is different from find'n'run. I have not yet published on the front page, waiting for a complete structure of the app. Gtk and translations. Today I have a busy day, but it takes me hands soon.

Very useful and interesting. My problem is to have the installation of quirky frugal with 6GB of ram, and an indexing very large (4GB +) causes a large consumption of CPU and RAM, thus slowing down the system. I will have to create smaller indexes ...
