Should I use sourceforge for linux binaries ?

#1 Post by keyboard »

There had been a lot of concern about Sourceforge going rouge and many have suggested to use some alternative to Sourceforge. But I couldn't find any other services good enough to host binaries. I could make my own binary hosting service but is there a better alternative ? Github is best code hosting but not for hosting only binaries.

check the article which talks about some of such nature.

dropbox makes a neat file host...ignore their silly software and use it as a server...many do.

Take the share url and change the end to 1 from 0 for direct link.

you could even host the website with info and links on dropbox too.

Alternatively a good free host with php/mysql ...we get 2GB and all that for a $25 a year including our own domain so paid is not too bad. Then you get your own email too. I am sure there would be suitable software for it or use a CMS.

just suggestions

Mike
