Subject description: ZoneMinder-1.28.0-i686.pet for XAMPP Linux 5.5.19 or 5.6.3.

I have made a ZoneMinder-1.28.0-i686.pet made for Tahr 6.x running XAMPP for Linux 5.5.19 or 5.6.3.

XAMPP must be installed first. (adduser mysql, then run installer)
then these steps:
1. download and install PET
2. using phpmyadmin create a user "zmuser" with password "zmpass"
3. create database "zm"
4. download zm_create.sql and import into the new database "zm".
5: in a terminal:
Code:
mkdir /var/run/mysqld
ln -s /opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

6. download the script zoneminder and place into /root/my-applications/bin
7.download zmfix and place into /root/my-applications/bin

then from the terminal :
zoneminder start|stop|restart|status
in a browser : http://localhost/zm

in most cases the Devx must be loaded for ZoneMinder to run correctly

No not kidding. I am still working on a simple way to install this system include everything needed to run ZoneMinder on this Puppy Linux. This particular PET was for XAMPP installs. You can always try to load zoneminder through the PPM which in turn attempts to add the dependencies such as apache, mysql and php5. I have done it MANY times but never really could get the mySQL or zoneminder to run correctly. I have had success by installing the needed servers one by one but always had a problem with re-booting after installing mySQL and could not create a save file without first making an SFS, forcing a shutdown, then adding the SFS and manually creating all the directory and symlink structure the PPM should do but doesn't. So that method doesn't work very well.

Tried to install using binaries with no success. Searched high and low including this forum for a way.......nope no help there. So I began to compile it myself but the huge pain in the ass to get LAMP stack installed and running made the process a little more then most people want to deal with. Although once everything is up and running works very well.

So easy XAMPP installs right away, runs out of the box. And Zoneminder compiled and integrated with XAMPP works well. Just a tick complicated and probably needs an Installer to do all the stuff needed to make this run.

So april why not show me a better way I am wide open looking for a easy solution to getting a stable running zoneminder in Puppy Linux any version.

oh and if you don't like it .....don't use it.

Your last line got it right for me but don't let that discourage you . I would love to get this working just the first post is a bit too much for me at this time.
