Overview - ChromeCast Pup V3 Unleashed 23rd Feb 2015:
This remains a specialised Pup for anyone who owns or intends to buy a Chromecast.
The target installation device is an 8GB or larger USB2 or USB3 stick. Ideally a nano stick such as this should be used:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDCZ33- ... B005FYNSUA
The intention is that the stick be used with a small wireless netbook or laptop with at least 1GB of memory that will then act as a coffee table controller to stream local media held on a main box or NAS that is connected by Ethernet cable to the wireless router. An Internet connection is required for streaming from sites such as YouTube and Netflix.
Given this arrangement, OOTB this Pup is optimised to run on small 1024x600 or 1024x768 displays. If you run it on a larger display increase the global font size and theme fonts to suit or use UCF2FS Pup which is suitable for larger displays.
Main Changes since V2:
V3 is a bug fix release but also includes a new automated setup procedure more akin to a normal Puppy. A new desktop setup icon is provided should the stick subsequently be moved to another PC or Netbook.
It is still based on the alternate f2fs image of 666philb's Unicorn-6.0 building block puplet. The kernel is 3.14.20.
This Pup contains a small fat32 boot partition and a larger f2fs partition which contains the main sfs plus a ready made save-folder with 2.7GB of free space.
It provides some of the speed advantages of a full install to f2fs whilst still performing in the same manner as an ISO running entirely in RAM.
PupSaveConfig has been preset to "always ask" at shutdown or reboot
Upon re-booting or at shutdown the option to save the session or not will always be offered.
Other Features & Changes in V3:
• Chrome Stable updated to 40.0.2214.111 with pepper flash. (Released 5th Feb)
• Pre-installed extensions including latest Google Cast & Videostream.
• Capable of booting from a “difficult

The problem I am having is that /tmp/Popcorn-Time is the cache where the entire film is downloaded for viewing! That is in ram which fills very quickly on my 2gb system. So I create Popcorn-Time folder on sda1 and link in /tmp/which means I get to keep downloaded films and no longer experience stop, which requires reboot.
I have remastered this pup with kernel 3.19.2-64 and zarfy, and remastering suite. Mine comes as one sfs plus initrd and kernel, could also post as iso.

Adding DLNA Controller - vGet Cast:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... i?hl=en-US
This free Google app plays web videos, local videos or videos stored on Google Drive on a DLNA/UPnP renderer (Smart TV, XBox etc.) in your local network.
Local videos/films are best stored on a share which is on a PC that has a wired connection to your wireless router.
Whilst the screen-shots below show it in use with ChromeCast Pup V3 it can be used
with any Puppy that is running Chrome or Chromium.
It is worth mentioning that You Tube already has a “Play on TV

Warm greetings from Canada, my friend
Hey ETP!!
Just touching base, to let you know I used CCPv3 on a seriously banged up Dell D620 lappy with 2G ram and something wrong sound-wise in Win7, so ok for doing stuff, as long as it's not watching YT or movies, playing games, music, etc.. Decided on a lark to plug the CCP usb.
Now using this sad, broken POS as my CC remote control (as intended) & able to do as I please with little to no sound errors (if I remember not to have too many tabs going in my browsers..)
You know I hate Google. but I do use Chrome in this pup only to watch me some NF. and cast it to the TV. Otherwise, I use an Chromium +
pepperflash SFS for my browsing. It is working well.
For those who do love the Goog, this is probably one of the best pups out there, and I think you have all the bells and whistles too.(the working 'OK Google' must have been a toughy to crack!) And it has that W8 look for the M$philes..so my visitors aren't as intimidated to use it to watch NF. (Now if I try to get them to come play on a different lappy/box running another kind of puppy, they don't want to cuz it's Linux and they are scared of it..) LOL you should see the looks I get..
I told them to tell you I sent them.

Me: "Are you having any issues finding, choosing, casting, surfing..?" Them: "No! not at all! It's actually pretty easy to figure out, Why? Me: "It's Puppy Linux, modded up by this guy in England, just because he could." Them : "Really? How much did you pay for it?" Me: "Nothing. It's free, and open source." Them: " Really? <click, click, click>"
I told them to tell you I sent them.

Puppy. You can choose to use it well. 8) Or well, choose not to use it. (I'm feelin' quite spiffy for thinking of that)
Of course there's always <mumble> RTFM  RTFM  RTFM  Funny I say that @ work and play equally often.
