Type 2 install: how to install alien packages anywhere?

I have a type 2 install and when I try to install alien package
with pupget I get the error because it wants to install someplace
other than /usr/ Since I have a type 2 install I think I can install
files anywhere. Is there a way to fix this?

you can extract it with pupzip to a temporary folder, and move the files manually then to the correct locations.
