Here's a short note about a free and encrypted service from 5th of July Fondation aiming to provide a means to chat securely and free of charge.

All that for the sake of a more secure internet, in face of privacy restrictions of all sorts from big governments and corporations around the globe.

5th of July Foundation is proud to provide an XMPP (Jabber) server for secure chats via OTR encryption.

XMPP is a chat protocol, which you can use with many different chat programs.

Make sure that your chat client supports Off-the-Record Messaging, or OTR, which lets you chat end-to-end encrypted in the way that Edward Snowden recommends. Here is a list of programs that support OTR.

In addition, the connection between your chat client and our server is SSL/TLS encrypted.

Are these folks hooked up with Greenpeace?

MHO secure VPN is a newly-needed and wanted thing... as long as its corporate-proof: gov't-proof might lead to some problems. /MHO
