Subject description: I guess this is the right category

http://www.unifiedremote.com/

This is free for the server that goes on Puppy (or virtually anything else) and then the Android app has a free (does less stuff but fully functional) version and a $3.99 version.

I used the portable linux 32 bit version. Tested in a Tahr puppy remix. I extracted it to /opt and had to install libbluetooth from the ppm to make it work. Then it runs by rightclicking obvious "urserver" application in the directory created under /opt and choosing "run in terminal" or running manually from terminal.

There is a web interface at http://localhost:9510/web

Then install the app on your old phone that is on wireless on the same network as Puppy, enter an IP number under servers if necessary and just follow the instructions after that.

I am behind a router, so I didn't have to worry about firewalls or security, ymmv.

Anyway, it works well and would be one way to use Puppy on a big screen TV.

Thanks @ Dancytron

Without your topic I would never have found this gem. But how would you show laptop screen on big TV? vnc? If this app allowed to view desktop on phone it would be perfect. Do you now a good app to acheive that?

I assumes it used bluetooth if you've got bluetooth (which I don't), but it won't run without it.

I don't think it is open source.

I was thinking along the lines of plugging the TV directly into the computer via VGA or HDMI and then controlling it with the old phone.

There are vnc/rdesktop types of apps for Android that can view your desktop. I am not sure what they are off the top of my head.

I see ...

I have an android os projector (pocket size icodis CB100) but no physical input. I can play videos and music over dlna or upnp through it as it has eshare, but I have not been able to display laptop desktop through it! If i could it would be really impressive!
