So my workaround was to invoke /etc/hotbar/restart_bar after every set_bg command. For other windows depending on conky in my wallpaper changer I exported $tm (time interval) and in conkyip.conf did 'update_interval $tm', and it works well but not ideal.

I've recently installed version 0.0.3 (vbar only) as I've set up multiple desktops to have different wallpapers and icons/icon arrangements http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 970#876970

Video (firefox was slow to load as it upgraded to version 43 during the recording) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4MbXu ... sp=sharing

I also experienced the ghosting and added a restart of vbox to each change of desktop. That still left some ghosting when drives were opened and the rox window overlaid the drive icons in the vbar. For me, adjusting vbar restart settings to

[ "$vbpid" != "" ] && kill $vbpid >/dev/null && sleep 0.1 && vbar -config /etc/hotbar/hdbar -above-desk -jumpf 1 -vbar -pos left -offset 30 -nanim 1 -zoomf 1.2 -idist 24 -isize 48 -bpress -balfa 100 -falfa 100 & >/dev/null 2>&1 &

whilst not perfect, mostly cures the ghosting. i.e. relatively low level of animation and zoom factors.

Ghosting appears to be quite infrequent now and only when a opened drives rox window abuts the vbar right edge i.e. a relatively small amount of ghosting (see images below) when it does infrequently occur.
