Subject description: Post-it on desktop

PupMemo-1.0
Tested on Tahr 6.0, Precise 5.7.1, Slacko 5.9.3 and Lupu 5.2.8

A small program suitable for users distracted and lazy or precise and meticulous.
Nothing new under the sun, but a puppy post-it on your desktop to remind you to remember.
It writes and saves his own file in /root/memo for a consultation also by another editor.
Start automatically at boot and can be launched from both the menu and the tray.
Requires a restart of X to have it in the tray.
Translatable into other languages.

Thanks to spaccafumo, don570, zigbert and RSH for the help in my first .pet.

Many thanks for this package, I've been looking for xpad or another for a while. Can you have more than 1(one) memo open on the desktop at the same time?

To have a second window open (with different data) you will have to re-write the script and give it a new name.

In the script change the filename where the data is stored from
/var/memo to /var/memo2.

You would have to change the name in the desktop file located in
/usr/share/applications/ so each application could be launched separately.

You can make a second pet package with the command 'dir2pet'

xpad is available for puppy and it has more features but is bigger.

Changed path, now is /root/memo

I'm thinking about your suggestion.

Thanks both for your responses. Another question if I may.

Can you give each memo a title? Maybe in the area where it says
"Welcome to PupMemo 1.0"

Thanks for considering the idea.

Request: Insert the day and time at the insertion point rather than at the
end or beginning of the memo file. I believe most
puppies have a clipboard utility installed. Not sure if it's
Parceiltte or glipper

I thought a lot about the date but I foresaw a future development. The date setting but as for an alarm or timer. But I'm complicating my life ... it's more difficult than I imagined. I need a bit of time for the changes.

I've re-read your script and I think I spotted two errors.
One might be my error in localizing the script with gettext.

Code:

     <action>Xdialog --title "$(gettext "PupMemo Help")"  --rc-file $TMPDIR/yellowbox.rc --left --msgbox " $MESSAGE " 0 0 &</action>

To make PupMemo Help show in list of translated text strings here is correction...
Code:

<action>Xdialog --title "'"$(gettext "PupMemo Help")"'"  --rc-file $TMPDIR/yellowbox.rc --left --msgbox " $MESSAGE " 0 0 &</action>

I think you copied too much text over from another program.

Code:

EXTRA_ARGS=

case `$GTKDIALOG -v` in
   *"GTK+ 3"*) funcgtkcssCreate ;;
   *) funcgtkrcCreate ;;
esac

can be replaced by
Code:

funcgtkrcCreate
