I certainly meant to include such support in version 141116 of PuppEX. I don't know if I succeeded since I can't test it myself.yerc1 wrote: Will include? Or already included in this update?

It's early days but playing around with PuppEX Tahr (even only briefly atm), I'm impressed by how well it is running on the chromebook.
The touchpad still doesn't work though.
synclient gives "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptic drivers loaded?".
Posting from chromebook running PuppEX Tahr.

I'm sorry to hear that. I did my best, but I couldn't find a special line for your touchpad during the configuration of kernel 3.17.3.yerc1 wrote:The touchpad still doesn't work though.

You had in 3.17.0 .config:
# CONFIG_CHROME_PLATFORMS is not set
If you still have that row in config, try to enable it:
CONFIG_CHROME_PLATFORMS=y
CONFIG_CHROMEOS_LAPTOP=m
CONFIG_CHROMEOS_PSTORE=m

Ok. Obviously I missed that. I will try to do better next time.pemasu wrote:You had in 3.17.0 .config:

New release/version of PuppEX Tahr 141124
Today (141124) I have uploaded a new version of PuppEX Tahr. It uses kernel 3.17.4-puppex. Kernel 3.17.4 was released 141121.
To yerc1
If your Toshiba Chromebook touchpad now works it is thanks to pemasu's advice. See above.

Will download on first opportunity.
With regard to updated ISO images, Saluki/Carolina and X-Slacko (iirc official puppies too) have a separate small delta file for the updates.
Users can then build the new ISO from the old ISO and the delta file using a delta utility.
It's gentler on the server (i think) and saves users data.
You may already know this. I'm just bringing it up in case you'd be interested to do your updates that way.
Boot alternatives
Try boot alternatives (with F2 or F3). Or run xorgwizard.rufwoof wrote:LiveCD boots to blank screen other than a (graphical) blinking cursor "_"
AMD64, Nvidia
PuppEX works without problems on my five different computers...
Re: New release/version of PuppEX Tahr 141124
Hi exton,
The Toshiba Chromebook touchpad issue was not fixed in PuppEX Tahr 141124.
I attached a hardinfo report generated on the chromebook running Fatdog64-700 beta2 in case you wanted to investigate further.
As far as I have tested, the chromebook is running perfectly on Fatdog.
Thanks for your efforts to resolve my chromebook's issues.

Ok, then I should be able to fix this by comparing Fatdog's config file with "mine". I.e. when compiling kernel 3.17.5-puppex.yerc1 wrote:

This is astonishing - outstanding even, boots fast
and absolutely fly's on my old X60 Thinkpad.
Lost for words to describe just how good this is.
Anyone that want's a real OS experience and more should try this.
Still playing - looking better all the time.
Much appreciated and best regards - Ray.

Thanks for your kind words, but do you really mean that my remaster PuppEX Tahr is faster than the original system (Tahrpup 6.0)?Ray MK wrote:This is astonishing - outstanding even, boots fast

Running puppy tahr 6ce now - nopae, as pae did not recognize Wlan.
Very little between them booting, but considering your PuppEX has Gimp, VLC, the latest stable kernel and presumably additional tweaks / bits & bobs etc.
Very impressive.
Will play some more and see - both are exceptional.

re-booted into PuppEX - so hard to be sure - but it does seem to be a little faster booting.
(have mislaid my IWC timer)wish)(must get another quality timepiece)
perhaps the verbose mode (very informative) generates the illusion of greater activity = faster?
Still very good, all things considered. More playing to do.

New version
Yesterday (141209) I have uploaded a new version of PuppEX Tahr. It uses kernel 3.17.6-puppex. Kernel 3.17.6 was released 141207. (So was kernel 3.18, but it cannot be used in Puppy Linux/PuppEX just yet).
To yerc1
Hope it works this time. If not I have to throw in the towel.

A new version of PuppEX Tahr is ready. Most important changes: I've changed kernel from 3.17.6 to 3.18 and installed NVIDIA Graphics driver 340.65. The Nvidia driver will be used if your computer/card is "modern" enough. I've also added Tahrpup's Service Pack 6.0.1 in PuppEX version 141221. (Kernel 3.18.1 can't be used in Puppy/PuppEX just yet).
