Dear Mark:
To input Tamil, SCIM is used as a front end tool and m17nlib & m17ndat are used as the backend tools with SCIM-m17n used as the Bridge between the two.
Many have tested this in Fedora, Gentoo, Debian, Vector Linux etc. ( However, this is not my own personal experience, as I am just an one and a half months toddler, and have chosen to start my journey from Puppy).
Here is a link to a short and succint "HOWTO install m17n and SCIM" for inputting Tamil in Linux (esp: Fedora):

I followed the steps given in this HOW TO tutorial:
1. I downloaded the required 4 tar.gz files.
2. Made Dot Pups with your (great) Dot Pup Wizard.
3. Installation of the m17nlib and m17ndat performed perfectly.
4. Installation of the SCIM.pup shows the following problem (see captured image):
I am unable to move further.
Need your esteemed help.
Attaching the 4 dot pup files with this.
Thank You and many Thanks to dear ngia for starting this Topic.
