Hello,

Testing snap2 in EasyOS.

Use in original language (LANGUAGE=en snap2):
In tab 'Snapshot Backup Paths' I choose an Instant Backup Path (box New Top-Level Source Directory) then click on the button 'Add as Snapshot Backup' : the path is entered but the 'Snapshot Backup Now' button cannot be used, not highlighted. Then I can safely delete this path ...

Use in french, same as in english, and the 'Snapshot Backup Now' button (in french «Sauvegarder en Instantané Maintenant») cannot be used, not highlighted.
AND, impossible to delete this path ...

Only a gtkdialog opens : «Veuillez sélectionner un chemin source avec lequel travailler.» (in english: 'Please select a source path to work with.'). And after action on OK button, back on main windows, but it's the tab (Chemins de sauvegarde en Miroir (english: 'Mirror Backup Paths' which is automatically selected.

The behavior of snap2 does not seem to be the same with easyPup: curious isn't it?

Regards,

JJ M

Hello,

In snap2, I modified line 114 as that you preconness, without more result.
But, I modified line 1081 :
Code:
elif [ "$EXIT" = "$(gettext 'Show Logfile')" ]; then

so the button "Show Logfile" (in french «Afficher le fichier journal») has an action.

Now it remains to solve the problem of the home page where the buttons:
Exclusions for Selected Snapshot Entry = Exclusions pour l'entrée d'instantané sélectionnée
Delete Selected Snapshot Entry = Supprimer l'entrée de l'Instantané sélectionné
Snapshot Source Path Editor = Éditeur de chemin de source d'instantané
don't seem to be working. Unless you have remedied it?
I have not yet found the solution.

Regards,
JJM

Brilliant! Thank you.

But I need to use XXXenglish on the snap2 version I am testing. Could you provide or send me the tool so I can use it for my tests?

How to explain XXXenglish ?

Let us go back to the exemple of the "Help" button.

The file snap2.mo is containing a translation of "Help" to "XXXHelp".
Thus running slap2
-- you can see that a translation has been done
-- you understand it
-- you can use it, test the action of a click on the button

Richard,

All you have to do is
download the file snap2.mo.gz
Uncompress it by clicking
copy or move it to /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES/snap2.mo

It will automatically be used by the script snap2 as your locale appears to be en_US.UTF8

----
the tool?
see EasyOS menu utilities: momanager (NOT the old one)

have fun

PostPosted: Tue 17 Mar 2020, 18:02    Post subject: Snap2-4.27-20200317 uploaded

All of the reported issues with snap2 have been addressed, except for the excessive height of the window. The "4 steps" should probably be moved into a separate dialog or a tooltip. I tested the various operations that I could. Get the new version here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1051473#1051473

I found that after changing the "active backup", that the selection is not retained after exiting snap2 and then restarting it. That may not be an internationalization issue, as I could not find where that is retained; maybe that is by design, that it always starts with the "default.set".

Now all 4 snap2 scripts use the 'snap2' domain, so they appear in the same .po/.mo file.

I trust you will tell me if I missed anything. Please do.

I made a difference listing of the .po files for the 20200310 and 20200317 versions of snap2, to assist anyone manually editing the 20200310 .po file. Note that the snap2engine script is reverted to the original version with minor changes, to avoid including long strings of variables in the translations.

Got the new version and updated my de translations.

Made my translations of the 4 steps shorter, but that is no solution for general usage. Tooltip sounds good, maybe easier is a scroll bar, visible only if needed.

Glad you have done it by yourself.

standish.home.org is 404 not found
Info from Barry: https://sourceforge.net/projects/snap2/

"never" translated does not work.

On console there are errors or warnings: write error
Code:
sh: Zeile 0: echo: Schreibfehler: Datenübergabe unterbrochen (broken pipe).

Lutz

I cannot confirm your " buttons have no action"
snap2-4.27-beta-20200317.pet works ok with this.
Code:
sh: line 0: echo: write error: Broken pipe
has been shown while deleting one of recent backups.

Merci beaucoup pour le snap2.mo
Do you use momanager?
No?
It is easy to use in EasyOS

Regards
Lutz

Hello,

I specify that I use the version of March 17 : snap2-4.27-beta-20200317

No, I couldn't use Momanager, for snap2, it does not start. So I work by hand with Geany.
I did not find a fuzzy translation in the last .mo file i sent. Maybe it's because I can't use momanager...

Snap2 cannot create a Mirror backup path in french language, while it is possible in English language. See attached image.

PostPosted: Thu 19 Mar 2020, 21:31    Post subject: snap2-4.27-beta-20200320 Uploaded

The corrections for the latest issues have been uploaded, as snap2-4.27-beta-20200319.

In the hope that this beta is essentially ready for final release, I cleaned up a few messages in snap2engine to leave out the translation of a long string of variables specifying a path (similar to what was done originally). I think I clarified the message containing "(dst)", which is the name of the variable, not intended to be evaluated.

I plan to continue to work the window-height issue.

As usual, the new package is at:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1051473#1051473

The listing of message differences from 20200317 to 20200319 is attached.

UPDATE 3/20/20: I have uploaded snap2-4.27-20200320 that has the top section being scrollable, which reduces the window height closer to 600 pixels. Note that although the scroll bar jumps to the end of the text, the page-down/up and mouse wheel do effect the scrolling.

Thank you, L18L, for the suggestion of 'scrollable="true"'. Please let me know when/if 4.27 is now ready for release to the snap2 thread. When that happens, we could all edit our snap2 related messages in this thread, to eliminate the parts of this conversation that have no historical value.
