Heekscad+ Heekscnc
picked from : https://launchpad.net/~neomilium/+archive/ubuntu/heekscnc-devel
It got enough cam functions to do a lot, until freecad got his own cam module .After hours of trials&errors, confirmed:lots of bugs,EDIT: sorry Mr Heeks... when you know what you are doing& what not to... it work very nicely ,the program for now, this linux version(maybe it is the same for the M$ version??!!), just dont give lots of feedback on what problems/design flaws sometime prevent machine/code generation, even in console ,Lets keep in mind the complexity of the task here,it justified the price of Ma$tercam...
or crowdfunding of opensource cam project a must...
A great work in progress ,thank Mr Heeks&all.

Hi,
I am looking for Autocad replacement. Just some basic 2d stuff.

I have downloaded latest tahrpup rc1 iso.

When I click on your Google Drive link, I get.....

"500. That’s an error.

There was an error. Please try again later. That’s all we know."

could you please take a look.

Also out of five sfs you have listed what do you recommend.
What they do individually.
I am a linux noob. I have used Autocad previously. I don't know or used any cad software in Linux. I just need this to teach basic usage to my friend ( I hope it is similar to Autocad).

I mainly use Fatdog.
I am at work now. I will install tahrpup when I get home.

Thanks.

- Neeraj

Link should work now,sorry .

If you look for 2d cad only you could try LibreCAD ,its 2d only,of course 3d (Freecad, heekscad ,blender) or 2d DraftSight, etc. would do the job. I never used Autocad ,so, cannot guide you to your best bet in linux cad choices closest to it.

I agree the first post ,even if I tried to make it clear could be confusing, its a "work in progress" to improve explanations to what's what clearly. The autodidact jack of all trades I am is open to suggestions!

Happy learning Neeraj !

Hi
Could you detail how you compiled Freecad?
At present I'm using Slacko 5.9.3.
Thanks

Subject description: CAUTION..some explanation or files names could cause dizziness :)

yes Wolfgang ,Heekscad is oce0.15(only) compatible.
You made me realise that it was not clear in that old file named:
2freecad-dev0.15+git201408250402+deps_5.8.3.rc1.sfs.....
that it use oce0.15 and the possible confusion because that
same freecad-dev0.15 version number.
Solutions..
I got : 2freecad.....rc1.sfs + 4_5.deps...sfs+5_freecad....sfs
+ heekscad..sfs and it all work.,
a ram hungry working solution,
or use the beauty of puppy/sfs<>fast install\uninstall.

i just clarify the fisrt post,again...and files names.
todo> integrate oce0.15 within heekscad .sfs
and clean some more that 1st post!

Thanks for testing .

Hi Vverve,

do you know gsimple?
http://www.gsimple.eu/
It is much smaller than Heeks and is somehow easier to use!
Until now I used for the simulation CncSimulator but since it is a bit older I am looking for another solution.
The problem is that it is a Windows program and I have not made it all set so that you can use the built-in editor! I have to enter the program in a separate editor and then load only in CNCSimulator. This is a bit complicated!
There should be a program in which the CNC program can be entered in order then to simulate immediately.
Do you know something like that?
