Best Puppy for Raspberry Pi 3B?

#1 Post by veronicathecow »

I'm struggling to get puppy on my Raspberry Pi 3B.
Not sure if it's me being stupid, some funny hardware or what.
Raspian works okay

Can anyone point me towards the best puppy?
I've tried Berryboot which install but the desktop does not start and I get a blank screen

I've tried Fatdog Arm for Raspberry Pi 3 but i get (put error on thread earlier today)
"Cannot load basesfs
cannot find fdsave.ext4 from anywhere
welcome to bulldog linux
bulldog login: "

Tried quirky-pi2-sd-8gb-xerus-8.0.25.img.xz
Got it working but tried to install firefox and it says it has but it is not in the menu system.

Seems you already found the one that works best.

About Firefox and the menu.
How did you install firefox?
I will guess.
If you got Firefox from their download location.
It was not made specifically for Puppy and probably will not make a menu entry.

Should be able to run it from the terminal (console) by using as the command:

Code: Select all

firefox
If you look for the firefox exec file.
(usually named firefox)
You can drag and drop it to the desktop to make a desktop icon to start it with.

If it was a firefox pet package you installed.
Try in a console

Code: Select all

fixmenus
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

Hi Bigpup thanks for your reply.
I managed to install quirky-pi2-sd-8gb-xerus-8.1.4.img.xz
Tried to install from ports.ubuntu.com (there were no pets)
Seemed to install but no menu,.
Tried running firefox from a terminal but no luck "Command not found"

AMJ Many thanks, I've installed this one.
