slacko usb install on netbook

Not so long ago received a Dell Inspiron mini 10 with XP.
There is no Cd, so I used Rufus to make a USB.

Startup works perfectly but no matter what I try the cursor is a rectangle of about 1,5 cm square.

What can it be.
Installing on HD I will do only when solving the problem.

Happens with other Puppies too after the 5.3.

Languages are always a problem in any Linux

Thx,
Leander

What version of Slacko?

Try the settings in:
menu->Setup->Mouse/keyboard Wizard->Touchpad

Some adjustment there may help.

Can you try with an external mouse?

Could be graphics driver issue.

Try running XorgWizard and specifically choosing the

Vesa driver.

menu->Setup->Xorg Video Wizard->Advanced->XorgWizard

Which mini 10 model is yours? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Inspiron_Mini_Series.
If it's the 2010 version it comes with HDMI and the Poulsbo graphics chipset. Good luck with Poulsbo. I suggest to either keep running Dell's XP (graphics works very well), or settle for an older puppy (I had good luck with Puppy Saluki 023) or be prepared to cope with driver hell.

If your mini 10 is a later model then I can't say anything.

I lost the whole disk, so no Dell XP anymore.
I installed my own XP, works fine.
Slacko 5,3 works fine but from 5,6 on does not give a good cursor. Same thing for the other new puppies.
On the other hand, Mint works 13 very good.
So maybe I stay on slacko 5.3 and see if anyone comes up with something better.

I want to explain linux things for older people (I am a youngster of 73 ), XP users who want to continue using their old PC's

Thanks to all of you for the good advices!
