Frugal Lassie won't boot (Solved)
I made a frugal install of LASSIE, as I have done for a number of Puppy derivatives in the past. However, when I boot, the process stops at "Searching for Puppy Files." I tried putting the sfs file in the root section, tried both PAE and non-PAE versions, but nothing seems to work. Once again, I know I'm doing something wrong and need help.

What version of L.A.S.S.I.E.?
Where installed (IDE-HDD, USB-Flash, USB-HDD etc.)?
File-System of Installation-Partition?
Name of Installation Directory?
What boot-loader used (GRUB, Grub4DOS etc.)?
Please do post the content of the used entry from menu.lst - or whatever your boot-loader is using.

I tried "pmedia=idehd" in the kernel line, but that didn't help.

Ok, I already feared it would be GRUB used as the boot loader. There was already user bark_bark_bark who could not boot L.A.S.S.I.E. using GRUB Legacy. He did not post, if he had solved this meanwhile.
I can suggest only trying to use pmedia=atahd and psubdir=lassie.
My machines doesn't have any ext partition to boot from, so every OS to boot is installed on FAT32 partition using Grub4DOS.
The name Grub4DOS is a bit of confusing since it can install also on ext partitions.
Installed L.A.S.S.I.E. (and LazY Puppy etc.pp.) on external USB HDD or USB Flash Drive using Grub4DOS is my default setup and it never had any problems booting. No matter if the USB Drive was recognized as sda1, sdc1 or sdf1 etc.pp.
Hope this will be of some help somehow...

Thanks again, Lazy Puppy. Adding "pmedia=atahd" --why did I think it was "idehd"? --and "psubdir=lassie" to the kernel line did the trick. I have not had this trouble before. Now I'm going to explore Lassie with pleasure.
