Opera's new browser blocks ads natively

When it comes to deciding which ads to block, Opera isn't reinventing the wheel: It's using the same blacklist as the browser extension Adblock Plus, EasyList.

Unlike Adblock Plus, the Opera browser doesn't use a whitelist of acceptable ads, because it starts off with ads enabled for each site. It's only once the user has decided that ads on a given site are unacceptable and clicked on a button in the toolbar that they are blocked.

That's partially it. I use opera-developer with the default adblocker configuration, which the first two screenshots show below. Apparently nothing should be blocked, but when I browse, say, ask.com, the little blue badge in the address bar shows that four ads are blocked (third screenshot). I still have to figure out the details...

Blocking ads natively or not, block lists are

block lists are becoming a pain the rear for the average Internet user to stay on top of; this is true even when they diligently try to develop "white-lists" for their sites that they want to see ads (to support that site).

I am wondering, anyone tried to the new approached appearing on Github and also in Firefox's add-ons? They are based on a firewall approach. The one in FF's add-ons is called "Adblock Ultimate" or something along those lines. A lot of former ABP, ABE and others are raving about it, but I am always skeptical of new stuff until it's been out at least a year or longer.

Just wondering if this firewall approach (which is supposed to slam all, black and/or white-lists since "no" ads are acceptable to the firewall) really bats the crap out of the ads, and if anyone has tried it? I had thought Opera was heading down this line given some of their developers talks about it several months ago.
