Hi all...

This may have been discussed before but after reading a thread about Pipelight here, I went to Pipelight's main web site here and as I looked at this page, a thought came to me.

I've seen quite a few pages like this. They list different distributions with their symbols to choose from but I think I've only seen one that ever mentioned Puppy. What are some constructive, yet effective ways that we could get software developers to list Puppy as a download option or choice, besides just sending them an e-mail asking them for specific support?

I know that Puppy serves as more of a niche OS as opposed to other distributions but I think we also have a lot of users out there, too. Any thoughts?

Thanks Smile

I imagine it would help if everyone used "one true Puppy" instead of a dozen different ones.
But I'm not sure if the question is really right. One of the main advantages of Linux is that you don't normally need to find a program on its website and download it from there - you normally install it from your distro's repository. With recent puppies which are built from other distro's packages, what is the problem? Are the programs that you want not available from those distro's repositories? Or do they not work in Puppy?

I've actually seen a few with Puppy. All it takes is someone to make a pet or an SFS and if they tell the developer it's available and they will put down the link. The problem seems to be some sites still point to SFSs created for Lucid or 3.01 when Precies or Slacko I believe is the current flagship.

Hi...

While I have experienced both issues, that wasn't the reason behind my post, although, after looking at your comment, it is very much connected. I just thought that having more developer support would make things easier for those using, or were interested in using, Puppy. Smile

Regards...
