How to set up LuPu for best protection?

#1 Post by pcpunk »

I have asked in another post for the tutorial for LuPu so I might get this info later but anyhow. What do I need to do to be protected. I have already setup the firewall.

Hello, pcpunk.

Sounds like you're a Windows refugee?

That's basically it on PuppyLinux itself, the firewall, I mean. For your
browser, copy a recent hosts file to /etc/hosts. Also install the "ghostery"
plugin on your browser to get rid of pesky ads and snoops.

Because of its file structure, Linux generally is much harder to hack -- and
also much less fun to hack ! -- than Windows. On Linux, all programs
must have permission to run, among other things. That complicates
matters for the hacker.

This subject has been discussed before on many threads of this forum,
you may want to do a search.

If you're really paranoid, run your Lupu in multi-session mode from a DVD.
The Australian police even recommends exclusive use of that for doing
your on-line banking. So there!

Long story short, PuppyLinux is a very secure OS. Have a great day!
