How to get rid of the virtual desktop icon in the taskbar?

#1 Post by fixit »

Is there a way to get rid of the virtual desktop icon in the taskbar ?

I don't use it and it would make things cleaner.

If you are using JWM - menu - desktop - jmw configuration - applications launch button in tray - select remove a button - remove desktop icon -run fixmenus from terminal - restart JMW

Oh, okay. I use an older version of JWM and am able to remove that button which is actually an icon of a desktop in my tray. Are you sure you are not talking about the workspace buttons? I don't think that has anything to do with desktop tray buttons/icons

I just managed to do it, by doing the following:
  • 1. Open up /root/.jwmrc-tray in your favourite text editor
    2. Search for pager, i found only the one instance like thus:

    Code: Select all

    		<Pager/>
    which i commented out, so that it looks like this:

    Code: Select all

    	<!--	<Pager/> -->
    3. Save the file
    4. Restart the Window Manager
